A Note from our SWD Captain

Saturday morning “Winter Golf” is over for the season, organized by our Winter Warrior, Sue Ursino, who led the brave souls around the course. Sometimes they golfed, snowy days just walked the course but always enjoyed each other! Friendships were both made and deepened

With weather delays on Saturdays, they weren’t often able to gather for brunch Missing social time, we're having an end of winter celebration dinner on April 14th, 6:00. It will be a casual affair and nothing will be planned except to be together, see old friends and welcome some new ones Please email sursino@comcast net to make your reservation

All SWD members are welcome - you don't have to be a part of the Saturday golf bunch!

The monthly complimentary seminars for SWD members are underway and well attended with an average of 20 participating These sessions are valuable for everyone, regardless of golf capabilities The feedback from attendees has been very positive and quite a boost for Sue Ursino, our leader

Make these learning opportunities a priority and consider staying for lunch afterwards with your friends

The two remaining sessions are:

May 6, 9-11: Match Play Strategies and Match Play Rules presented by Sue Ursino and the Pro Shop (just in time for Captain’s Cup)

June 3, 9-11: The Mental Side of Golf, presented by the Pro Shop

A big thanks to all who attended our Town Hall in November and completed the subsequent survey. Your input inspired new ideas, innovations and your Board of Directors is leap-frogging into our season with renewed energy!

One of the most popular requests was golf clinics and Bryan Nicholson has jumped on board with a blend of full swing, short game and game management These complimentary clinics are open to all SWD members Each one will be limited to 15 ladies; 5 ladies per pro. Registration is required. Here are the dates so you can plan ahead; tentatively the start time is 10:30 AM

April 20 – Hybrids and Fairways

April 27 – Putting and Chipping

May 4 – Bunkers

May 25 – Trouble Shots and Uneven Lies

Here are some interesting statistics on our Captain's Cup history:

2019 - 48 participants

2020 - 40 participants

2021 - 40 participants

2022 - 32 participants

This year we're already at 45 with 3 more weeks to register so we're on our way to setting a record of recent years! Who’s playing? Sign in to Golf Genius, see who’s already there and join the group!

If you need help understanding how this all works, have questions, email Jeanne Link, jmlink@live.com. Details are also on our Sahalee website To set the record straight: There is no fee to play

Our Season Opener on Tuesday, April 25th is a mixer – sign up and the pro shop will assemble the 4-person teams This year it’s a 9-hole Shamble: 2 best balls of the foursome We’ll have a 9 AM shotgun start and a delicious lunch will follow It’s a great way to start the season!

Check out the Women’s Golf Division on Sahalee’s website. It’s been updated with new information, tournament schedules and explanations, rules, etc

Our board is making great progress to provide an exciting 2023 season. One of the biggest changes is tapping into the Pro Shop’s expertise in managing events and competitions There will be a laison for each event (Field Day, etc ) to work with Assistant Pro Laura Kraft and others.

I’m looking forward to the start of our regular season, playing with my friends and welcoming our newer members! By the way, we still need a few Golf Buddies to show our new members around. Contact sursino@comcast.net when you want to be a part of this vital program to enhance the SWD member experience
