I was approached by an International client who wanted to realise a dream. He had assembled over the years images of period furniture, together with some of his favourite paintings from the same period. His request was to assimilate all his research into a single piece of furniture, whose purpose was to house a gallery of bespoke wild animals, commissioned from Patrick Mavros Ltd, London.
The piece was also to include a lot of marquetry, in particular, a representation of Stubbs famous painting, ‘The Royal Tiger’. From this I designed the piece seen here. It is constructed from an array of exotic timbers; Macassar ebony, cocobolo, tamo (Japanese) ash, to name a few. Other materials employed include silver inlay, bespoke LED lighting, leather panelling and a marble top.
