Be Earthquake Ready DOES YOUR WORKPLACE HAVE AN EARTHQUAKE PREPAREDNESS PLAN? In high-risk earthquake zones, it’s incredibly important to be proactive in minimalizing hazards to your employees. The St. John Ambulance suggests taking the following steps:

1. CONDUCT A RISK ASSESSMENT

In order to create procedures for rescue or evacuation in various areas in the workplace.

2. PROVIDE AN EMERGENCY MEANS OF ESCAPE

There should be a way of escaping any area where the nature of work could create an immediate danger, especially when the regular exit could become unusable

3. HOLD EMERGENCY DRILLS AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR

Emergency drills can help to raise awareness and effectiveness of emergency exits and procedures.
