Safetec of America was born on January 1, 1992, in Buffalo, New York. Since our inception, we have been unwavering in our commitment to producing top-quality, American-made products. But more than that, we've been dedicated to the city we love, where we ensure our manufacturing operations exceed the highest standards of quality and safety.
Along our journey, we've encountered major health challenges like the AIDS epidemic, the swine flu, and most recently, the COVID-19 pandemic. Products like our flagship, Red Z®, were born out of challenges like these to protect people and stop the spread of disease.
We also wouldn't be where we are today without our team - the heart of Safetec. Many of our employees have been with us for many years, building strong relationships along the way. USP <800> is a guideline created by the United States Pharmacopeia Convention (USP) for handling Hazardous Drugs (HDs) in the healthcare setting. USP <800> only applies to handling Hazardous Drugs (HDs) where there is a risk of exposure to patients, healthcare workers, and the environment. Any drug identified as hazardous or potentially hazardous by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is considered a Hazardous Drug.
Surface Safe™
Surface Safe™ is engineered to decontaminate and deactivate surfaces by eliminating Hazardous Drug (HD) residue effectively. Extensive testing data confirms that Surface Safe™ efficiently eradicates eight of the most prevalent Hazardous Drugs from inert surfaces, with the capacity to treat approximately 2 square feet per application.
Surface Safe™'s dual-step application process ensures thorough decontamination:
• Packet #1: This packet is used for cleaning the contaminated surface. It contains a towelette in a 2% Sodium Hypochlorite Soap Solution which is a high potency bleach.
• Packet #2: This packet is for neutralizing the solution in Packet #1. It contains a towelette in 1% Sodium Thiosulfate with 0.9% Benzyl Alcohol which works as a bleach inactivating agent.
Hazardous Drugs Spill Kit

In environments where meticulous precautions are paramount like compounding pharmacies and healthcare facilities handling Hazardous Drugs (HDs), such as cytotoxic drugs, Safetec's Hazardous Drugs Spill Kit serves as the primary defense against unexpected spills and exposures.
Any facility that handles HDs must have USP <800> compliant spill kits on-site. This requirement is part of USP General Chapter 800 and is an effort to protect workers and patients in the event of accidental spills of HDs.
