Adult Education Program Provides More than Prep

‘Step Up with Safe Haven’ is our adult education program that provides HiSET classes in addition to job training opportunities and career exploration. Our weekly programs also include dinner and childcare. Since the program launch in October 2022, eight families are enrolled with students on track to take the official HiSET exam.

In addition to educational opportunities, the Step Up program also provides ways for the families to bond and have fun through dinners and holiday celebrations. In May, the families enrolled in Step Up hosted a summer kick-off cookout and invited families in shelter as well as staff (and their families) to attend. It was a great way for families and staff to build community!
