Volunteer events At SAFE, we believe the gift of time is priceless – which is why we are so incredibly grateful for our caring team of volunteers who give their time to act for animals. The year has been filled with wonderful events, protests, stalls and more. Volunteers have been out and about taking action for the animals, working on SAFE’s current campaigns and helping people to consider the impacts of their choices on animals and the environment. In Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland, the Go Green Expo was a huge success – the SAFE stall attracted plenty of interest, and volunteers introduced many people to SAFE’s Plant-Based Challenge. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with a range of different people and have meaningful conversations. Meanwhile, at Auckland

University, volunteers collected thousands of signatures for petitions and showcased SAFE’s virtual-reality Farm360 footage to help people understand what it is like to be an animal in an intensive farm. We were proud of the large crowd of caring people who travelled a long way to join us to peacefully protest at the Martinborough Bull Ride event in November. In Auckland, the SAFE team and volunteers showed their support for racehorses at the Auckland Viaduct in a powerful demonstration against horseracing.
