Prasoon Joshi becomes chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification •
The government has appointed Lyricist Prasoon Joshi as Chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification for 3 years.

Joshi has taken place of Pahlaj Nihalani.
•
Joshi’s appointment has been effective from August 11, 2017.
•
According to the release of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the tenure of the reconstituted board will continue for 3 years or till further order.
No. of technical institutions trimmed •
The All India Council for Technical Education has decided to shut down such technical institutes, which have less than 30% admissions in the last 5 years.

According to statistics, there are about 10 thousand 350 accredited engineering institutes in the country whose total capacity is 37 lakh students.

Of these, 27 lakh seats are vacant.
Shooter Maheshwari Chauhan won bronze medal •
Shooter Maheshwari Chauhan has won the bronze medal in the Asian Shotgun Championship.

This competition is being organized in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Maheshwari won the Bronze medal in the individual event and Silver medal in Team event.

Maheshwari became the first Indian woman to win a medal in individual shooting competition.

JD(U) President Bashistha Narain Singh has said that the party will take action against its senior leader Sharad Yadav for his anti -party activities.

Mr. Singh also noted that no one is above the party.

JD(U) will also take action against party MP Ali Anwar if needed.

Sharad Yadav had publicly expressed his displeasure over JD(U)’s alliance with BJP.
