NEW FACULTY MEMBER!

San Antonio College Early Childhood faculty, center teachers, students and staff attended Voices for Children of San Antonio 20th anniversary celebration dinner on September 29, 2016. This event was a fundraiser for the Voices organization that responds to current and emerging needs of children and their families through purposeful and strategic advocacy that improves programs, practices and policy. The President’s office paid for us to have a table to support this great organization!

My name is Ann Coldwater and I am thrilled to be a full‐time faculty member in the Department of Early Childhood Studies at San Antonio College. I have been working in the field of Early Childhood for over twenty‐ five years. I have a Bachelors in Early Childhood/ Elementary Education and Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, both from the University of Texas at San Antonio. I am a certified teacher in elementary and special education. I am also certified as an Early Intervention Specialist Professional from the Texas Interagency Council on Early Childhood Intervention and a Master Registered Trainer with the Texas Early Care and Education Career Development System. My personal and professional goal has always been to improve the lives of children and families. I have been fortunate to spend my career teaching young children with disabilities, their families, and adults working in the field of Early Childhood Education. I teach because I am passionate about the joy of childhood and committed to the fields of human development and community service. I love to share my knowledge, experience and enthusiasm in Early Childhood. I cannot wait for the new learning experiences that will part of my journey at SAC! I hope to see you in class!

The Early Childhood Studies Student Club (ABCD – Always Building Children’s Development) has been very busy this semester. The club has participated in the Antojitos Festival in the mall area of campus and the Sactacular Block celebration. In November, during Civic Engagement week, the club is collaborating with the SAC ECC center children and staff to collect cereal boxes for the food bank on campus. One of their biggest projects this year is establishing a Little Free Library Box for children that will be located outside the SAC Early Childhood Center.
