PROJECT PROJECT 1: DIAGRAMING NEXUS AND DIVERGENCE

Savanna

S., Grant M., and I were given the task to create a diagram. We wanted to recreate a “motherboard” from a computer, which seems to best represent us because it shows we are all connected one way or another, and how it has led us to chose a similar career paths at the same school. We focused on telling our story though this diagram.

PROJECT PROJECT 2: TOPOLOGICAL TRANSFORMATIONS

This

project had us recreate an object that contains space with four different types of models. I have created three of them with cardboard, one representing a vertical transformation, one horizontal, and an egg-crate model. Along with a skin model made from aluminum foil and twist ties. This project required a significant amount of time, with precise measurements and cutting techniques.

PROJECT PROJECT 3: VISUAL HIERARCHY The goal of this project is to take a two-dimensional Mondrian

painting and transforming it into a three-dimensional model. In the model, I made sure the red stands out as my focal point as it does in the painting. I chose to keep the white void in the model, since it is not explicit in the painting if it is a void area or a clear area. My project is constructed out of foam core and basswood, which creates the idea of balance in my structure. PROJECT PROJECT 4: CREATING PATTERN, COLOR, AND TEXTURE In

this project, we were asked to create a stamp with artgum eraser, with that I created three different patterns. The second row was mainly focused on creating a color wheel, a plaid pattern, and a recreation of the original pattern. The last step was to make an origami combining both the pattern and color. I had to focus on consistency and craftsmanship to make the overall project look good.

PROJECT PROJECT 5: MAKING PLACE The main concept of this project is to take our cubes (Project: 02),

and create a plan. From the plan, I have made this landscape, which represents Zora from Calvino’s book “Invisible Cities.” I used aluminum metal sheet to represent Calvino’s quote, it is where visitors can keep the memories of Zora safe. “This city which cannot be expunged from the mind is like an armature, a honeycomb in whose cells each of us can place the things he wants to remember”

PROJECT PROJECT 6: AN EMBASSY OF SPACE Using my existing landscape from Project 5, I have incorporated the landscape into the new structure built above it, while focusing on the themes, I have created from my invisible city, Zora. I wanted to make sure my model was easily accessible for my visitors which is why I have created stairs and paths. I have used cardboard and chipboard to keep a balance between the metal landscape and the structure. Zora is a destination, which is why I went with a rooftop where visitors can come to see the beautiful view.

PROJECT PROJECT 02: CUBES AND CYLINDERS

Throughout the first half of the semester, we were assigned to construct 4x4 cubes, cylinders, and a hybrid model out of different materials. This project helped me understand the value of good craftmanship, learned how to draw plans, sections, elevation, and axonometric better. Personally, as we kept working on this week by week I have noticed my skills improving.
