Learning and Participation with SAA-uk Hello and welcome to another year of inspiration, learning and creativity at SAA-uk! For those of you who don’t yet know me, I’m SAA-uk’s new Learning & Participation Officer, and I’m very much looking forward to meeting you. Since I joined the team in May it’s been all stations go, from an incredible performance by our dance academy of Sleeping Beauty at West Yorkshire Playhouse – our first in-house production – to Bharatanatyam filming for the BBC and another successful summer school for all our budding musicians. At South Asian Arts we believe that everyone has a creative spark and that art can give people the power to feel inspired, discover new talents and build new friendships and communities. As autumn approaches, we’re looking forward to working closely with all our academy students to support their learning and development over the coming months, ready for more exciting performance and community project opportunities in the New Year. If you are an existing SAA-uk student, now is the perfect time to invite your friends and family along to try out a new instrument or pick up some new dance steps, and if you’re new to our organisation then it’s the perfect time to join! Most of our classes are inter-generational and we have programmes to suit all levels, so whether you’re an advanced learner or are at the very beginning of your journey into South Asian art and culture we’re sure you’ll find something on the following pages to suit your needs. If you feel like trying something new, you are welcome to drop into any of our music or dance classes for a free, no obligation taster class – we’re a very friendly bunch!
