art in the Park - June 10 & July 15 (Blowing Rock, nC) Art in the Park was created in 1962 by a handful of area artists and craftspeople to showcase local talent. Today, Art in the Park is host to 90 artisans at each show. Some of the best local and regional artists and craftspeople showcase their handcrafted jewelry, pottery, fiber, glass, photography, painting and more. BaPs Walk Green - June 10 (Raleigh) The BAPS Walk Green will take place on Saturday, June 10 from 8am - noon. BAPS Charities Walk Green 2017 in Raleigh, NC is an event to raise funds for The Nature Conservancy, Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, and other charitable activities organized by BAPS Charities. This year, BAPS Charities will support The Nature Conservancy’s efforts to plant and restore over 1.6 million acres of land by planting one billion trees by 2025 through their Plant a Billion Trees initiative. Join over 17,000 walkers in over 50 cities and help support the planting of 100,000 trees in 2017. The walk is at 1050 Town Hall Dr., Morrisville, NC. tGa summer Picnic - June 17 (Cary) The Triangle Gujarati Association (TGA) will hold its annual summer picnic on Saturday, June 17 at 4:30pm at Apex Community Park, 2200 Laura Duncan Rd, Cary, NC. Yugpurush play, June 29 (Charlotte) A Hindi play about the spiritual relationship that transformed Mohandas into the Mahatma, directed by Rajesh Joshi and written by Uttam Gada will be presented at the Hindu Center, 7400 City View Dr, Charlotte on Thu, June 29 at 7pm. Tickets are $10 (includes dinner) but RSVP is required. This is a charity show for Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital. The music for the play is by Sachin - Jigar. Better dads Festival - June 17 (asheville) Help create a space where men, women and children can share their experiences of how men and fathers show up in their lives and build bridges between cultural communities to appreciate both unique and shared experiences. Discover new ways to connect, share, explore, and grow. For some, father roles do not follow traditional norms, while for others, they do. For some, the word “father” brings joy; for others, it’s more of a struggle. The question is really, “What does fatherhood look like for you? american dance Festival 2017 - June 13-July 19 (durham) The American Dance Festival, held annually since 1934, features public performances, classes, and seminars from more than two dozen companies and hundreds of choreographers, writers, and students. ADF has played a critical role in increasing the repertoires of our country’s modern dance companies, having been the site of more than 650 premieres, more than 350 commissions, and more than 50 reconstructions.
