You are making lame excuses and fool me. A woman says: “O Babuji (Man)! I do not understand why do you try to show up, though your heart, pockets and wallets are empty! I asked for money, you didn’t have any; instead you said why do you need money? Love is (enough) pious.” Today’s gentlemen remain uset, just winking their eyes but with the empty pockets. They don’t do any work, instead they just show up. I don’t know why. The man replies: “Today’s women are just free headaches. Always getting ready, day and night, for a quarrel. Vinod (1922 – 1959) Vinod, a talented Punjabi music director of the 1950s, was born on May 28, 1922 in Lahore. Vinod was a popular name given by Bombay Film Industry, but his real name was Eric Robert. He was a student of Pundit Amarnath in Lahore. In his childhood, he was fascinated by the band music played at Hindu weddings. He started composing music in 1946 and gave music for about 30 films under small banners, and he did not earn a lot money and fame, composed music with his heart and a love of the arts. To be successful in the film industry, one needs supports from the film producers. He tried to insert Hindi songs in Punjabi films and vice-versa. His spouse was Sheela Betty and they had two daughters. He died penniless on Dec. 25, 1959 in Mumbai, India. He never got his dues. Some of his films: Khāmosh Nigāhein, Kāmini, Ek thi ladki, Bhaiyāji, Anmol Rattan, Wafā, Aag kā dariyā, Lādlā, Nikki, Miss Hunterwāli, Ladki etc. to count a few. His popular song lyrics “Lārālappā, Larālappā...” (A Punjabi and Hindi mix) is given in this issue of Saathee magazine in the column on this page.
