Heritage India festival 2014 The annual Heritage India Festival, showcasing regional Indian dances, arts, and culture, will be presented on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 5 – 9pm at HSNC Cultural Hall, Morrisville, NC. India festival of fayetteville Southeastern North Carolina Asian Indian Association (SENCAIA) presents the 8th annual India Festival, a day of music, dance, food and entertainment on Sat, April 12, 2014 11 am – 7pm at Crown Center, Fayetteville NC. A Rare Evening of Classical Ragas The Indian and Classical Dance Society will present “Mangal Dhwani” - an evening of classical ragas, a Hindustani vocal concert by Padmabhushan Pandits Rajan & Sajan Mishra. On February 23, 2014, UNC Bhangra Elite hosted Bhangra Sutra 2014, an annual showcase of Bhangra, dance, and a cappella talent from UNC-Chapel Hill and beyond. This year UNC hosted 10 other teams including NCSU Nazaare, Duke Dhamaka, and UNCC Adaa. Teams from diverse backgrounds such as hip-hop and Filipino folk joined in the fun and got a taste of what Bhangra is like, as every performance group incorporates certain elements of Bhangra into their routines. This event presents an opportunity to share the passion for Bhangra with the wider UNC community and develops strong relationships with dance teams from around the state. Dances of India The 12th anniversary Dances of India, featuring Dr. Maha Gingrich and group, will take place on Sat, April 26, 2014 at 4pm at the Halton Theater, Charlotte. Experience traditional Indian classical and folk dances, rhythmic movements that tell the story of ancient India through costumes, dance dramas, and music. The event features the signature dance “University in Diversity,” which will be set to a live international orchestra and features an array of international dances.
