Katrina Kaif is No Material Girl

Saif's Gift to Deepika

Contributed by Guatam Buragohain and Urvashi Ashar

During Diwali, everyone seems to get the generous streak. Actorproducer Saif Ali Khan was no exception. It was while shooting in Delhi with Deepika for a film produced by him and directed by Imitiaz Ali that Saif suddenly announced a two-day break for the entire cast and crew. Deepika claims this to be her Diwali gift from Saif, and immediately rushed to pack her bags and fly down to Mumbai to be with beau Ranbir. Of course, Saif's intention was to spend some quality time with girlfriend Bebo, too. Never mind that the lights came on, love seemed to fill the air too, this past Diwali.

Rahul Bose Lends Voice for Safety Recording Actor Rahul Bose is shooting for a film called Exchange Offer these days. But besides his acting and rugby talent, there are more noble services the man has been offering. Rahul has just recorded an audio book for Tulir, an NGO working towards the prevention of child abuse. We're told, "Children can be equipped and empowered with non-threatening, age-appropriate information to build self protective behavior. So we've developed an audio book to take the message of personal safety to very young children, in a fun way through singing, dancing and story-telling. Rahul very kindly and immediately consented to be the narrator at no charge for the Hindi version of Tickles and Hugs - the Touching Rules."

Katrina Kaif insists that material is immaterial these days. When we caught up with her and got talking about her birthday and the gifts she received. She said, "Ha, diamonds and all are not the best things anymore. We actors are pampered and get a diamond set at the drop of a hat! What matters now are relationships, friends, family, warmth, love, care‌" What high thinking, as high as the diamond in the sky.

Ash Misses Her Parents on Birthday Aishwarya Rai turned 35 recently, but the birthday girl couldn't be with her family back home. She instead spent time with her hubby in the thick jungles of Kochi where they're shooting for Mani Ratnam's film. The day went as usual - they left for the shooting venue at 5 am and returned at 7 pm, and then celebrated. "It was a small, quiet affair with the unit. We celebrated with some good food after we packed up," said a unit member. Of course the birthday was incomplete without Ash's Ma and Pa. But the tech-savvy hubby that Abhi is and with a gadget freak pa-in-law like Amitabh, Ash must have surely connected with everyone back home, somehow.

Vivek in SRK Company!

Kareena Kapoor Miffed?

It's official. After been repeatedly snubbed by Salman, the Oberoi boy has moved over and joined hands with Salman's current nemesis Shah Rukh Khan. We spotted Vivek in a recent fashion show hobnobbing only with Gauri Khan and her friends. "Vivek is a regular in SRK's house and their parties and has been accepted in their inner circle of friends," says a friend. So after Arjun Rampal, SRK has found another company in Vivek. As for Vivek, his mannat seems to have finally been granted.

Rohit Shetty is in a dicey situation. His Golmaal Returns may be a huge hit, but the actors are accusing him of solid golmaal - not having given them the screen time and presence promised during time of narration. For one, Arshad Warsi is very livid with the director and has gone hammer and tongs accusing Shetty of much unfairness, and then there is the fair damsel, Kareena Kapoor, who is pretty upset with the man, too. So we called up the unsung hero, but Rohit was singing a different tune. "Yes, I'm aware that Arshad is upset, but Kareena is not! Kareena is celebrating instead. She's the one who has been telling me from day one that the film would be a hit! And all she is telling me now, is I told you so!" But what about good friend Arshie? "Well, he's shooting somewhere and I haven't got down to talking with him. I don't know if I will, either," said the director, who is pretty miffed with our Circuit Babu as well. Looks like this friendship fuse is surely going to blow.
