Who am I ? • My name is Shuntaro Sumit a, and I am from Japan. I w as born in Fukui, center par t of Japan. I came to Canad a when I was grade 10. I sp ent here for 3 years and I’ m planning to go to colleg e in Canada.
Early life • I spent most of the childhood in Yokohama city, Kanagawa. I hav e 2 order sisters. My family went to camping really often since I w as really young. One of the unfo rgettable moment was that we built a tent next to river and I ha d fun with a trampoline there.
Turning point of my life • I came to Canada when I was Grade 10. It was turning point of my life because I struggled with communicati ng in English for a year. I experienced new culture, ne w language and new people at the same time. I still r emember that I was confused with the food from Can adian homestay.
Volunteering • As I start feeling comfortable with new high school lif e in Canada, I started to volunteer with my friends he re. We did lots of things; Food fair in school, Asian ne w-year, Thai new year. I helped to cooking food and s erving. It was fun and good experience to learn new c ultures from all around the world.
Sports • I have been playing many types of sports for long tim e. I especially like to play rugby because I started to p lay it since I was in kindergarten. After I came to Cana da, I joined in a rugby team in WVSS. I was surprised t he difference of physique, compares to the students i n Japan. I can also play soccer, tennis and basketball afterschool.
Aviation • Since I was in grade 2, my dream was to be a pilot. Alt hough my dream has changed to be a tower controlle r, I love air planes for so many years. I like to collect models of airplanes, and go to airport to see the actu al planes. I went to Boeing factory in Seattle, and lear ned how the airplanes are built. Also in japan, I had o pportunity to see maintenance place for airplanes. Th ose experiences made me more ambitious to be an ai r traffic controller.
My future goals • In this 5 years, I will be graduating from university in Canada, and going back to Japan. I am planning to ta ke an exam for people who want to be an air traffic c ontroller. I will try to do my best in the university to a chieve that goals.
