Ryan + Beth Photographers Info Book!

Hi there! We’re Ryan and Beth! This incredible photographic journey all started in 2004 on a sweltering hot beach in the Mayan Riviera (not a bad place to start hey?). Armed with his newly purchased Canon film camera, Ryan photographed his very first wedding - it was his sisters big day! He had a blast shooting her wedding, but it wasn’t until after the ceremony, after the flight home and after the extreme sun tans(aka BURNS) had faded did he know that photography was going to be a big part of his future.

It wasn’t too long after Ryan and Beth got married that Beth had a camera in her hands and was giving Ryan a run for his money! In their first year shooting as a couple they photographed over twenty weddings and they’ve never looked back.

Once he walked into his sisters house and saw the photo’s he took proudly displayed on their walls, as forever lasting memories of their wedding...it was then he was hooked! Blending fine art, fashion and true emotion into photographs became his passion.

Thanks for considering us to be your wedding photographers. We can’t wait to get to know you more and hear all about your big day!”

We are Ryan and Beth Kelly, international lifestyle and wedding photographers based in Edmonton, Alberta and we love what we do :-)

Every couple starts with THE BASICS. To make sure we’re there for all the most important parts of your big day, we’ve included plenty of hours and two photographers standard. Also included is an engagment session. We LOVE doing engagment sessions! They give us a chance to work with you before the wedding so we can see how you interact and you can see how we work. We like to keep things simple! Instead of having a bunch of packages filled with things you might not want or confusing album and print credits, we have one basic, easy to understand package and ana la carte menu filled with fun stuff you can add on at anytime. Add albums and prints on now or after the wedding - whatever works best for you!

SAY NO TO CHEESE, SAY YES TO AWESOME WEDDING PHOTO'S! It’s your day; so for the most part we follow you around staying out of the way and capturing real moments as they happen. With all the emotions of slipping into your perfect dress to your first dance, there is so much happiness and excitement already we definitely don’t have to create it, we just photograph it as it happens! On the other hand there is nothing we love more then finding a beautiful natural backdrop with gorgeous light and sending the two of you over there to get nice and close for some sweet romantic shots... I think “get nice and close” is probably the four words you’ll hear most out of us! Our style reflects both photojournalism and artistic portraiture but we also take “regular” photos… you know, the one with every aunt, uncle and cousin… We always take “standard” photos, we just try not to spend to much time on those. The more time we have to capture real moments the better, because our goal is not to get pictures of what you look like, our goal is to get pictures of who you are!

Engagement Session FAQs Q) When should we schedule our engagement session? A) Our calendar fills up fast, so as soon as possible! Since our weekends are usually filled with weddings, we prefer to shoot engagement sessions Monday thru Friday evenings. We love to look for that perfect romantic light, about an hour before sunset. Try to avoid the hottest and coldest parts of the year, fall and spring sessions are our favorite! If you want to use your engagement photos for Invitation cards or a guest book album you’ll want to do your engagement session as soon as possible. Q) How long will the engagement session last? A) An engagement session is fun and laid back, its all about us getting to know you as a couple and you getting to know us as photographers. A session is about 1-2 hours. We look around for perfect light and a great spot and then we snap away as the two of you just be yourselves; silly or snuggly. We don’t do a lot of posing but don’t worry we’ll help you out till you get the hang of it, by the end of the session you’ll be pros! Q) What Should We Wear? A) Be you, just kick it up a notch! If you’re jeans and t-shirts kind of people go with that, but throw on a pair of smoking heels or cute boots. If you want to get dressed up go for it, just be comfortable and be yourselves! Bright and bold colors look great and can really make a photo pop! If you want variety bring more then one outfit, just remember, you might be changing in your car! Q) How long until we get our photos? A) Your engagement photos will be in your online gallery within three weeks after your session. We’ll send you the gallery link that you can forward to all your friends and family. Your high resolution dvd will also be completed and ready for pick up within 3 weeks of your session. A few of our favorites will also be posted on our blog within a week of your session. Q) How long does a guest book album take? A) Guest book albums are custom designed by us then individually printed in California, and therefore require 6 weeks to be finished. If you plan on ordering a guest book album please let us know as soon as possible.

MAKE NEW TRADITIONS!

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Seeing each other before the wedding doesn’t bring bad luck… it brings gorgeous photos!

Once the bride and the groom have gotten completely ready, separately of course, we take the groom to a spot with a great setting and gorgeous light.

Traditionally, during the times when arranged marriages were the norm, the couple to be wed was never allowed to see each other. Marriages way back in the day were like business deals between two families. But if the groom met the bride before the wedding and saw that she was not attractive, the groom could back out and cancel the wedding. This is something the family of the bride wanted to avoid, so over the years the tradition of hiding the bride became a superstition, and seeing each other before the wedding was considered “bad luck”.

THE

FIRST LOOK Consider a First Look bride and groom session

Nowadays though, this “tradition” is being kicked to the curb by modern, photo-lovin’ brides and grooms everywhere.

The bride comes in and the groom turns to see her as she is walking up. You won’t even know we are there, but we’ll be catching each smile, tear, laugh and kiss. The “first look” photos are usually some of our favorites from the entire day and chances are, they’ll be your favorite too!

WHY SHOULD YOU CONSIDER DOING A FIRST LOOK? We’ll have more time for natural light photos

You’ll get to your reception quicker!

Waiting until the ceremony to see each other means that all of your portraits are done after the wedding. If you have an afternoon wedding this is no problem but if you have an evening wedding then it will be dark after your ceremony, which will definitely narrow your options for artistic portraits. Using the natural sunlight in that extra hour before the ceremony makes for great wedding party and bride and groom portraits.

After you walk down that aisle its party time! Your guests are all heading to the reception and your bridesmaids and groomsmen are ready to head over to the party. Having all your portraits done before the wedding means you can head over to the reception with your guests and actually make it to cocktail hour. Doesn’t that sound about 10 000 times less stressful then trying to finish up portraits before dinner is served?

Seeing your fiancé calms those “I think I’m going to explode” nerves Both of you are nervous, but seeing each other and having that time alone can really help you to relax. Don’t worry, those “Omigosh, its really time” nerves come back when you are about to walk down the aisle. Don’t think for a minute that it takes anything away from that moment!

HOW TO CREATE AN AWESOMELY UNIQUE WEDDING Ok we know we already told you all the benefits of a first look session, but just in case we haven’t convinced you yet… consider a first look! We love having extra time before the ceremony to get up close and emotional photos as the two of you see each other for the first time.

TELL YOUR WEDDING PARTY TO BE READY EARLY! Whether or not you decide to do a First Look Session, we’ll still do pre-ceremony portraits of you and your bridal party. So make sure everyone is ready at least an hour before the ceremony! If you have people in your wedding party that are always late, be sure to tell them to be there extra early to make sure they make it in all the photos!

ASSUME HAIR AND MAKEUP WILL TAKE LONGER THEN EXPECTED

It might sound like a bit much but always add an hour to how long you think hair and makeup will take, especially if you have a big bridal party. Your makeup artist and hairstylist are fantastic but that doesn’t mean they won’t take longer then expected… you can’t rush creating art! Besides even if they don’t run late that means you have more time to relax and enjoy hanging out with your girls.

MAKE A “SHOT LIST” OF ALL THE POSED FAMILY SHOTS YOU’D LIKE TO GET When it’s time for the posed family shots, the more organized things are, the faster they go, which gives all the more time for us to get some awesome shots of just the two of you! Make a list of all the combo’s (it’s always good to ask your family before hand if they’d like to see any specific groupings as well) and include names so we can speedily get the shot and let everybody head off to cocktail hour.

GIVE YOURSELF TIME TO REST, SNACK AND REHYDRATE When planning out your wedding day timeline, make sure to leave room in between events so you and your wedding party can have a few minutes here and there to just chill, have a snack and drink some water! This sounds simple enough, but we can say from experience that a couple who has planned even just a few minutes here and there of down time and gets some food in them, tend to be more relaxed and are able to really enjoy their day to the fullest!

Frequently Asked Questions Q) If we don’t need an engagement session can we take it out of our package? A) Yes. By removing the engagement session it takes $190 off the package price. Keep in mind that you also lose the photo cards since we won’t have a photo to use.

Q) We definitely want to book you to shoot our wedding! What’s the next step? A) That’s great to hear! We can’t wait to work with you! To officially book the date on our calendar you’ll have to sign our wedding photography contract and pay the $1500 booking fee. Once that’s done you’re all set! Woohoo!

Q) Can we take off hours from the package? A) You certainly can, but unless your wedding is on a Friday or a Sunday it won’t save you anything. Saturdays are our busy days for shooting weddings so we generally don’t accept bookings with less than 8 hours of photography. If you’re planning your wedding on an off day, let us know and we’ll put together a custom quote that’s fits the amount of coverage you need!

Q) Can we pay for the rest of the package cost with monthly payments? A) Sure! Just let us know at the time of booking and we’ll set it up for you.

Q) Can we order our albums after the wedding? A) Absolutely! Most of our clients order their album at the time of booking to take advantage of the $150 off promo but ordering after the wedding works great too! Q) Do you mind if our family and friends take photo’s during the wedding day? A) By all means, let them snap away! We don’t mind at all. Q) What if we need you for more than 10 hours? A) Not a problem! Give us a shout and we can go though what kind of coverage you need. If you find that on your wedding day you need to keep us longer than the ten hours, we simply charge our hourly rate of $250 per hour for the amount of extra time spent photographing the rock’n party.

Q) When is the remaining balance due? A) The remainder of the balance is due 30 days before the scheduled wedding date. We’ll send you a quick reminder via email but make sure to mark it on your calendar! Q) Can I pay using a credit card? A) You sure can. Let us know and we’ll set it all up!
