fall 2011 I want to welcome all of our students, faculty, and staff to another academic year! It’s Fall Semester 2011 and I am looking forward to another Great Year! The campus is located in a community that is very diverse and rich in culture. If I can point out the keys to what make the Riverside Campus so great, it would be the dedicated faculty and staff that is housed on the campus. We know that the students are our most important ingredient in our success on campus but it is the smiling faces and the heart-felt commitment to the college that make the Riverside Campus so special!

ACC wants to help you get where you need to be. That’s why the college is continually working to meet Editors & Photographers parking and transportation needs by expanding the number of parking spaces and finding ways to reduce the Gabriel Romero number of cars on our campuses. Parking Guidelines - Parking permits are required and may be purchased at the cashier’s office located on each campus. Beginning fall 2010, ACC will waive parking permit fees for disabled veterans. The fine for parking in a space reserved for persons with disabilities is $50. All other violations will result in a $25 fine. Check out parking regulations here. If you have parking questions or concerns, contact your campus manager’s office or ACC Police.

start here..... get there The ACC Riverside Campus, 1020 Grove Boulevard, Austin, Texas 78741, is one of eight campuses in the ACC District service area. Located on 195 acres in southeast Austin, the campus provides comprehensive higher education programs and services to approximately 7,500 students. ACC Riverside offers university transfer degrees and core curriculum courses, workforce/technical degrees and certificates, and comprehensive student support services, such as advising and counseling, financial aid, library facilities and media services, as well as computer centers and a learning lab with free tutoring.
The campus is home to a variety of workforce programs including Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration, Automotive Technology, Building Construction Technology, Electronics, Jewelry, Personal Fitness Trainer, Renewable Energy, and Welding Technology.
The faculty and staff at Riverside are ready to assist you in making the best decisions in your educational plans to achieve your career goals. We look forward to seeing you! Stay Classy! Fill your water bottle with Filtered and Refrigerated water for free. Currently Available at Rio Grande Campus Building 3000, Northridge Campus and Round Rock Campus More than 5,000 bottles were filled in one summer month in a single station. It's coming to all other campuses this Fall 2011.

The event highlighted the meaning of el Diez y Seis from historians. Students, faculty, staff, and the community sampled tasty traditional dishes and enjoyed the rhythmic steps of Roy Lozano's Ballet Folklorico, plus musical entertainment from Mariachi Estrella, Johnny Degollado y su Conjunto Band, and Boca Abajo. The event was presented by the ACC Center for Public Policy & Political Studies, the Latino/Latin American Studies Center, and the Office of Student Success.
El Centro Mural Depicts Local History
Five canvases are making their way across the Austin Community College District in the coming months, showcasing an integral part of Austin's past and providng a window to the future. The canvases are part of a mural that traces the role and history of education for the Mexican-American community in East Austin, including the Montopolis, Riverside, Govalle, and Del Valle areas. Renowned artist Fidencio Duran painted the mural, commissioned by ACC’s Latino/Latin American Studies Center (El Centro).

travis county historical essay contest The Travis County Historical Commission sponsors an annual Essay Contest in association with Austin Community College that focuses on recording and preserving the history of the people and places of Austin and Travis County. Some of the topics that students have researched are: Texas State Cemetery, Laguna Gloria Art Museum, Texas Capital Building, former Governor Hobby and Barton Springs, just to name a few. Often the students will visit sites that have historical markers, develop essays, complete a poster. Participating students will receive a certificate from the members of the historical commission. This will be the 3rd Essay Contest held at ACC, and the 2nd held at the Riverside Campus, with the support of the faculty, staff, students, Student Life and the RVS & EVC Campus Manager’s offices. {Austin Community College} {Campus Police} {Administrative Staff} Chief Dixon was formely the Assistant Chief of Police at Austin Community College and has been with the college for 5 years. This past September he obtained the rank of Chief of Police at ACC..
Chief Lynn Dixon Chief Griggs is a a new member to the Austin Community College Police force, joining the department this past September. Before working for ACC, Chief Griggs was a Lieutenant for AISD's police department.
Assistant Chief Silas Griggs Lieutenant Guerra has been with the ACC Police Department for 10 years, starting as a patrol officer and working his way up to lieutenant. Before joining ACC, Lieutenant Guerra worked for the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.

National Night out is a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the Austin Community College Police Department. The event is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and policecommunity partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

s t n i H l u f Some Help From your ACC Campus Police...
Do you want to help prevent crime but feel as though you don’t know where to start? Here are a few simple steps you can take right now to help prevent crime and increase your safety on campus. Keep valuables out of sight when your vehicle is parked. Remember, property theft is the number one crime committed on college campuses throughout the country. Many of these crimes can be prevented when you eliminate temptation. Roll up your car windows and lock your vehicles. Avoid walking alone at night on campus parking lots. Minimize the risk of becoming a victim by asking a district police officer to escort you to your vehicle or by walking in groups or pairs. Have your car keys in hand.
Having your car keys in hand before walking out into the parking lot will give you extra time if you need to get into your car quickly. Always be aware of your surroundings. Watch for suspicious people or activities. Preprogram the ACCPD Emergency number in your cell phone: 512-223-7999. ACC phone: 222 If you see something – Say something. Report any crime or safety concerns to district police at 223-7999 or to your local law enforcement agency. You can also contact us at ACCPD@austincc.edu. Together we can keep our Campuses safe.
