Devon T “Egypt” Robinson presents one man show for Lyceum Series

RC | CAMPUS NEWS BRIEFS

Dr. Cynthia Bond Hopson speaks at convocation by Kylan Robinson Dr. Cynthia Bond Hopson was moved to tears during Rust College’s Mid-Year Convocation on Jan. 13 as President David L. Beckley presented her with the school’s Tower of Leadership Award. She’d long hope to receive such an honor but was very surprised when the time came. The assistant general secretary of the Black College Fund and Ethnic Concerns at the United Methodist Church’s General Board of Higher Education and Ministry in Nashville, is also an inspirational speaker and author of six books. Hopson, who like her mother and grandmother became a mother at 17, said she worked hard to make sure that the she ended the cycle of teen motherhood in her family. She received the bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Clark College (now Clark Atlanta University), a master’s degree journalism from Murray State University and a doctorate in journalism from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.

“The only way to accomplish great things is to attempt great things,” Hopson said.

Rust College’s Lyceum Series presented Devin T. “Egypt” Robinson in his one man show on Tuesday, Jan. 13. Robinson is a world famous actor, activist author and motivational speaker.
