e’ve got one busy year ahead of us at Russian Chicago! The wait to get on the cover of this magazine is four months long, which means we have eight great cover stories in works already! And that’s just what we have hand-picked, as you may guess it’s not that easy to get on the cover as is. Regardless of how arrogant it may sound but getting on the cover of our magazine is cool, valuable and prestigious. It’s interesting how so many (local and not so local) publications tried and still trying to imitate what we do, but with not much luck to say the least. Not saying they should stop trying.. just saying they should perhaps try something else, because they cannot beat us at our game. That’s just that. I understand that there are decent people behind each project.. perhaps they even try real hard. But when I sometimes look at local newspapers my eyebrows go way up. I just don’t understand what they are about or who they are for. I really don’t. It seems like a completely useless waste of time and talent. Sorry if it sounds harsh.. I’m not trying to insult them (I know they are ALL reading our publication, including this one) I’m just expressing my opinion, honestly. I’m open for discussion, I’m even willing to help in some way. Maybe... Quick note about Sochi 2014 Olympics that start the day before this new issue of Russian Chicago comes out.. As optimistic as I’m trying to be, and I do have close friends who hold management positions and are involved in televised production for Russia and Ukraine... what a disaster so far! Reading so many reports and watching video footage and images of horrible conditions and unfinished construction everywhere. It’s not even funny any more. It’s just plain and simple embarrassment. I just hope the actual games go well and at the end everythings ends on a good and happy note. This 95th issue of Russian Chicago features an amazing artist Gosha Levochkin, who won all of our staff over quickly a while back with his great talent and personality. Be sure to read his story by our editor Victoria Bulakhova and find him online, maybe even get some of his works! Enjoy this issue and stay warm, Chicago! Talk soon, cheers!
