“You can use almost anything to make a wreath but generally it’s good to choose a base of something like laurel, bay leaves or fir – then after, add items that sum up the mood or theme of what you are trying to achieve. Traditional wreaths do tend to us e holly, be rries of all kinds, nuts and other seasonal favourites. At Clifton Nurseries we love our edible wreaths, laced with treats such as crab apples and citrus; especially chilli and marmalade, which is a surprising mix and one which gives it a modern twist on a traditional theme. Once you have the basic skills it’s fairly straightforward to make a wreath; give yourself lots of time and have a plan of what you want before you start – and have everything to hand. A pair of good pliers or sturdy gardening scissors and thin wire are a must. Clifton Nurseries is running a couple of courses where people can learn to make their own wreaths with guidance from our trained florists.” 24

“Learn to make your own wreath at a Clifton Nurseries workshop on 26 November or 3 December. All materials are provided and seasonal refreshments will be included in the workshop ticket price. Tickets are £40 and groups will be very small to ensure excellent tuition.”
