FROM THE GAFFAS Firstly I would like to welcome all the fans, players and staff from Ashton Athletic to Runcorn Town today along with all our fans. I hope you all enjoy the game.
Training was good in the week with high intensity shown by the players. It was good to get back on the training pitch after that result and I can assure you that every single player is really up for today's game.
We come into today's game after a very disappointing result and performance last week against Padiham, and we are looking to put that right today for both the club and fans.
Like most club's we will face this season, Ashton are a new club to us. We have had them watched and they like to get the ball down and play football, much like ourselves.
Make no mistake, last week was unacceptable. We were disappointed in our application throughout the game despite starting the game well. On another day we could have been out of sight inside 30 minutes, but that's all irrelevant if we don't take our chances when they come to us.
Their last six games show that they can certainly perform, with wins over Avro and Padiham in the last month and Longridge on Tuesday. However they have lost away at Northwich Vics and Barnoldswick so they can be vulnerable.
What happened after that was the wheels fell off for the next 50 minutes until eventually the lads decided to have a go for the last 10 minutes when it was all too late and the game was over. We know results need to improve and the lads know that they have to put a level of consistency with our performances. That’s what we aim to do today.
All we are best doing though is concentrating on our game. We have the players in the squad to get all three points this afternoon, and that will certainly be the intention from myself, Aden and Johnny. We hope you all enjoy the game and help get behind us to get the three points. See you in the bar after the game.
Niall

ASHTON ATHLETIC WE TAKE A LOOK AT ASHTON'S MANAGER, AND PICK A PLAYER TO WATCH OUT FOR THIS AFTERNOON
JAY FOULDS
GABRIEL ELLIS
Jay has been in charge of Ashton Athletic since the start of the 2013/14 season but this is his first league game in sole charge!
Gabriel may be a surprise one to watch out on these pages given that he has only just signed for Ashton, but we need to keep an eye on him this afternoon!
He was part of a management trio with Dougie Pitts and Ben Kay who came to the club a few years ago from Wigan Robin Park. Ben left a few years back to concentrate on his groundsman duties and Dougie surprisingly stepped back last week. Jay has managed a whopping 377 games for Ashton, and as always we post his managerial record here! W181 D64 L132 F724 A580 Draws include 4 shoot outs, winning 3
Gabe started off by coming through the ranks at League Two side Accrington Stanley (who are they?!?). He went to Skelmersdale United, initially on loan before making the move more permanent, and scored the winner against Lancaster City in the FA Cup as Skem reached the First Round. He moved to Ashton at the end of October, and scored two goals last time out as Ashton drew at Barlick.

ABOUT OUR VISITORS A BRIEF LOOK AT THE HISTORY OF ASHTON
Ashton Athletic Football Club was founded in 1968, playing in the Wigan Sunday League – winning every Division in consecutive seasons and many cup competitions before switching to the Warrington League on Saturdays where similar success was sustained. The Club developed Brocstedes Park and was admitted to the Lancashire Combination, before becoming a founder member of the North West Counties League when the Combination merged with the Cheshire league in 1982. Unfortunately, financial constraints prevented the required ground improvements to be completed, and the Club was relegated into the Manchester league Division One in 1986. The drop of two leagues resulted in the majority of the playing staff moving to other clubs and for numerous years the club endeavoured to re-build. Players came and went, lacking the Club loyalty that had brought success to the Club in the 1970's and early 80's until the Committee
08
embraced an ambitious youth development policy in 1999. The Yellows then embarked on a tenyear development plan to enhance its recreational facilities and expand the Club, in particular its junior section. The Club members worked tirelessly to progress the Club within its means, and with some help from external grant sources. Assistance from the Football foundation, Awards for All programme, and Wigan Council enabled a series of improvements to be completed. The main pitch was re-drained, a second pitch acquired/improved, new changing rooms and Clubhouse built, disabled access provided and other improvements made to the grounds. The ground was brought up to the necessary Ground Grading for the NWCFL and further improvements provided additional seating. The 2008/09 season also saw further progression for the Yellows, having been promoted to the Premier Division of the North West Counties League. The FA Cup proved
very lucrative for the Club, progressing through 3 stages and beating 2 teams from higher leagues in the process. The previous season also saw cup success for the Yellows, retaining the Atherton Charity Cup at the end of the season. Following an impressive 6th place finish in the 2008/09 season, the Yellows struggled in the league for the next 4 seasons, finishing in the bottom three of the league in three of the next four seasons. 21st (09/10), 22nd (10/11), 14th (11/12) and 20th (12/13). In 2013, the Yellows took the unusual step in bringing in a trio of joint managers -Jay Foulds, Ben Kay and Dougie Pitts. Jay and Ben were brought in from Wigan Robin Park and Dougie came in following a break from the game. The trio needed to completely rebuild the squad for the 2013/14 season and made an excellent start to their managerial careers creating club history with a 6th place finish and beating Maine Road 1-0 to win the League Challenge Cup at Curzon Ashton. More club history was made in the 2014/15 season with a highest ever 5th place finish in the league, conceding only 38 goals and losing only 7 league games that season and the Yellows were successful in the Wigan Cup, beating Newburgh Harrock United 5-1 in the final at Brocstedes Park. The 2015/16 season brought a solid 7th place finish in the league. The 2016/17 saw another top 10 finish with the club ending the season in 9th place, but the Yellows made history in the cups reaching the 2nd qualifying round for the first time ever, losing 5-0 against Halifax Town and winning the Lancashire Cup for the first time, coming from a goal down to win 2-1 against Radcliffe Borough. Lee Vaughan scoring the winner in the final minute of the game. With the impact the
management trio made at the club in the 4 seasons that they were in charge , the success was noticed from clubs at a higher level and following the 2016/17 season, Ben Kay left his role as joint manager to take up the role as assistant manager to Simon Howarth at Clitheroe FC. The following seasons saw further progression with finishes of 12th (17/18), 5th (18/19), and 5th and 14th in the covid curtailed campaigns of 19/20 and 20/21. The club enjoyed further cup success - the 2017/18 season saw Ashton Athletic see off Squires Gate, Runcorn Linnets, Bamber Bridge and Albion Sports in the FA Cup to set up a mouth watering 3rd qualifying round local derby with Chorley with the yellows suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat in front of live BBC cameras and the biggest home crowd in their history of 610. In the 2019/2020 season, wins over AFC Liverpool, Skelmersdale and Morpeth set up an away trip to York City with the yellows beaten 5-0 by their illustrious opponents in front of over 1,000 spectators at Bootham Crescent. In September 2021, Dougie Pitts stepped down from his position of joint manager due to family and work commitments with Jay Foulds continuing as manager of the yellows. A new vision for the Club is under discussion to further develop the Club and these will include plans for improvements to the access road, new junior changing rooms, additional playing fields for the junior section and a proposed girls/ladies section. The main ground is also scheduled for enhancement works with additional covered spectator areas. The Club is a voluntary organisation run by a Committee of 14. Any money raised by the Club has been ploughed back into improving the facilities and developing the youth section.

RUNCORN TOWN ARE BACKING THE PLAY SAFE INITIATIVE THAT LAUNCHES THIS WEEKEND
TOWN TO PLAY SAFE
Runcorn Town FC is lending its full support to Play Safe – a national FA-led campaign to raise awareness of the importance of safeguarding in football.
footballers with lived experience of abuse in football, who are on our Survivor Support and Safeguarding Advisory Group. The Group has collectively said:
Play Safe is being run in partnership with the NSPCC and has the full backing of the Premier League, EFL, Barclays FA Women’s Super League and the FA Women’s Championship. It’s also supported and being run across every other level of the game.
“Learning from the past is crucial, so that we can prevent the horrific experiences that happened to us and so many others in football, from happening again.
The main element of Play Safe is a series of short films which emphasise the importance of clubs such as ours having safeguarding as an everyday reality. The films also explain to parents/carers and children themselves know what to do if they feel unsafe or worried, because nothing matters more than making sure football is safe for everyone, especially children and young people. You can see these films on our club website and we’ve also broadcast them on our social media channels. “As a youth team coach, I will be working with my club to ensure we support the Play Safe messaging,” says FA Chief Executive Mark Bullingham. “I am also pleased that the campaign has the support of the former
“As a group of survivors, we fully support the ethos and important messages that Play Safe conveys – whether to club officials, parents/carers and or vitally, children and young people themselves. Equally important is that Play Safe is not a one-off campaign – it will be used at key points in the football calendar to remind everyone in football, that children’s welfare and keeping them safe, should be at the heart of all that we do.” As the Survivor Group points out, you’ll see Play Safe appearing at various points throughout the season to keep safeguarding front of mind in football. Together, we want to do everything we can so everyone – particularly children and young people – has a consistently positive experience of our great game.

Runcorn Town were beaten by Padiham at the Viridor Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon. There were two changes to the Town lineup - Sam Hughes and Calyn Barlow came in for Jack Lloyd and Frankie Antoine. Town started well and on 3 minutes Liam Turner’s long throw was flicked on by Foulkes and Craig Cairns’ shot was saved by Matthew Hamnett in the Padiham goal. On 14 minutes Calyn Barlow played a onetwo with Cairns, Barlow's shot was saved by the keeper who also blocked the follow up from Cairns. Three minutes later a misplaced pass from Town put Jamie Ramwell through on goal, but Kevin Exell made a fantastic challenge to stop the shot. Town were creating the better chances. Cairns’ cross to the far post was met Andy Brown whose shot was blocked by a combination of keeper and defender. On 26 mins Barlow’s ball into the box from the right was cleared to Joe Holt who volleyed over the bar from 12 yards out. Padiham came back into the game and a dangerous ball into the box from David Sherlock was headed wide by Joel Brownhill who claimed he was fouled in the process. Town almost took the lead after half an hour. Andy Brown did well down the left and cut the ball back to Richie Foulkes who thumped a shot against the bar. Padiham ended the half strongly though. Jamie Ramwell almost caught out Reid with a shot from a tight angle, but the Town number 1 made a decent save. Then a goal kick was flicked on to Matt Boland who cut in on his right foot and shot just wide.
The visitors should have taken the lead on 37 minutes. Boland's free kick into the box was headed onto the bar by Luke Thompson and Brownhill headed the rebound over the bar from a couple of yards out. Padiham took the lead on 54 minutes when Boland's cross into the box was sliced into his own net by Kevin Exell under pressure from Jamie Ramwell. Town responded when Joe Holt's Free kick into the Padiham box was flicked on a couple of times and Andy Brown headed over. On 66 minutes Padiham doubled their lead. Ramwell received the ball from Brownhill, cut in from the left, past a couple of challenges and slotted past Reid. Town subs Frankie Antoine and Kieran Holsgrove combined and Holsgrove’s low shot from 25 yards hit the post and bounced to safety. Padiham made it 3-0 on 70 minutes. A long diagonal ball from Kieran Sherlock found Marcus Perry and he cut inside and fired low past Reid. Town kept plugging away and got one back on 84 minutes. Cairns laid the ball off to Holsgrove and he surprised the keeper with an early shot right footed which found the bottom corner from 25 yards. The Town midfielder was involved in all of the Town attacks since his introduction for the last half hour. His ball into the box missed everyone and would have found the net but for a smart save from Hamnett. From the resulting corner Liam Turner's shot was diverted just over the bar by Cairns. In injury time Town struck the woodwork for the third time. This time Holsgrove's free kick from 30 yards had the keeper beaten but came back off the bar.

LAWS OF THE GAME LAW 13: FREE KICKS The Laws of the Game (also known as LOTG) are the official rules in football. The LOTG are set and updated annually by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The board consists of eight members, four of which come from FIFA, and the other four coming from England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales – all countries that contributed to the development of the sport. The IFAB currently acknowledges 17 laws that are the standard for any professional or international match played, and we will look at them all throughout the 2021/22 season. After an age looking at Law 12 which was Fouls and Misconduct, we continue looking at the Laws of the Game as we carry on with Law 13, Free Kicks. LAW 13: FREE KICKS 13.1 Types of free kick Direct and indirect free kicks are awarded to the opposing team of a player, substitute, substituted or sent-off player, or team official guilty of an offence. Indirect free kick signal The referee indicates an indirect free kick by raising the arm above the head; this signal is maintained until the kick has been taken and the ball touches another player, goes out of play or it is clear that a goal cannot be scored directly. An indirect free kick must be retaken if the referee fails to signal that the kick is indirect and the ball is kicked directly into the goal. Ball enters the goal • if a direct free kick is kicked directly into the opponents’ goal, a goal is awarded
22
•
if an indirect free kick is kicked directly into the opponents’ goal, a goal kick is awarded
•
if a direct or indirect free kick is kicked directly into the team’s own goal, a corner kick is awarded
13.2 Procedure All free kicks are taken from the place where the offence occurred, except: •
indirect free kicks to the attacking team for an offence inside the opponents’ goal area are taken from the nearest point on the goal area line which runs parallel to the goal line
•
free kicks to the defending team in their goal area may be taken from anywhere in that area
•
free kicks for offences involving a player entering, re-entering or leaving the field of play without permission are taken from the position of the ball when play was stopped. However, if a player commits an offence off the field of
•
•
play, play is restarted with a free kick taken on the boundary line nearest to where the offence occurred; for direct free kick offences, a penalty kick is awarded if this is within the offender’s penalty area where the Law designates another position (see Laws 3, 11, 12)
The ball: •
•
must be stationary and the kicker must not touch the ball again until it has touched another player is in play when it is kicked and clearly moves
Until the ball is in play, all opponents must remain: •
at least 9.15 m (10 yds) from the ball, unless they are on their own goal line between the goalposts
•
outside the penalty area for free kicks inside the opponents’ penalty area
Where three or more defending team players form a ‘wall’, all attacking team players must remain at least 1 m (1 yd) from the ‘wall’ until the ball is in play. A free kick can be taken by lifting the ball with a foot or both feet simultaneously. Feinting to take a free kick to confuse opponents is permitted as part of football. If a player, while correctly taking a free kick, deliberately kicks the ball at an opponent in order to play the ball again but not in a careless or reckless manner or using excessive force, the referee allows play to continue.
13.3 Offences and sanction If, when a free kick is taken, an opponent is closer to the ball than the required distance, the kick is retaken unless the advantage can be applied; but if a player takes a free kick quickly and an opponent who is less than 9.15 m (10 yds) from the ball intercepts it, the referee allows play to continue. However, an opponent who deliberately prevents a free kick being taken quickly must be cautioned for delaying the restart of play. If, when a free kick is taken, an attacking team player is less than 1 m (1 yd) from a ‘wall’ formed by three or more defending team players, an indirect free kick is awarded. If, when a free kick is taken by the defending team inside its penalty area, any opponents are inside the penalty area because they did not have time to leave, the referee allows play to continue. If an opponent who is in the penalty area when the free kick is taken, or enters the penalty area before the ball is in play, touches or challenges for the ball before it is in play, the free kick is retaken. If, after the ball is in play, the kicker touches the ball again before it has touched another player an indirect free kick is awarded ; if the kicker commits a handball offence: •

HOLT & REID PASS 150 APPEARANCES! Joe Holt and Adam Reid recently became the latest Runcorn Town players to pass the 150 appearances mark for the club. Holt made the mark with our game at Prestwich Heys ten days ago with Reidy joining him on 150 in last Saturday's game against Padiham. Both players have had over 100 NWCFL appearances, with 115 for Holt and 107 for Reid. Its Reidy who leads the way in most other competitions though, with 12 FA Cup, 9 FA Vase, 8 League Cup, 5 Cheshire Senior Cup, 2 Liverpool Senior Cup and 6 St Luke Cup. Holt has 10 FA Cup, 7 FA Vase, 9 League Cup, 4 Cheshire Senior Cup, 2 Liverpool Senior Cup and 3 St Lukes Cup. We have scored 328 goals in Joe's 150 games. 12 times we have scored 5+ in a game, although 21 times we haven't scored! For Reidy its slightly less with 287 goals in his games, 48 times we have scored two when he played!
Looking at goals going in, and Reidy has conceded 252 goals. 37 times he has kept a clean sheet, with 39 times conceding one and 34 times conceding two. For Holt its slightly less, with 237 conceded in the 150 games that he has played. Looking at opponents, and Joe Holt has played 55 different opponents for us with Adam Reid playing 48 different opponents. It does appear to be similar sides though, and the team that both players have faced more than any other side just happens to be today's opponents Ashton Athletic, with Reidy facing them 10 times and Holty 9 times. Reidy has 8 appearances against Northwich Vics and Winsford United with 7 against 1874 Northwich and Irlam. For Holt, its also 7 against 1874, Winsford and Irlam! Congratulations to both players and here's counting to appearance 200!

Barnoldswick Town
It was a very bad day at the office for Runcorn Town last Saturday afternoon, with our 3-1 home defeat to Padiham seeing us and the Storks swap places in the bottom three of the NWCFL Premier Division. At the other end of the table, Macclesfield and Skelmersdale United showed why they are the top two in the league as they played out a 0-0 draw, with Wythenshawe Town unable to capitalise as they drew 2-2 at Squires Gate. The biggest win of the day saw Lower Breck win 5-1 against Northwich Victoria, with AFC Liverpool winning 4-0 at Irlam. Also scoring four on the road was Avro, who won 4-1 at Vauxhall Motors. Winsford United beat Longridge Town 3-1 with Burscough running out 3-0 victors against Charnock Richard. Barnoldswick Town and Ashton Athletic drew 2-2 in the days other game. In the First Division North, there was no game for leaders Bury AFC, with 2nd and 3rd placed side's Holker Old Boys and Golcar United taking full advantage with a 3-1 victory at Atherton LR and a 3-2 win over Ilkley Town respectively. Garstang beat the enigma that is Bacup Borough 4-1, with AFC Blackpool winning 3-0 against Daisy Hill. Pilkington also won 3-0 against Steeton as did Nelson at Chadderton. Campion also scored three, but they did conceded as they beat AFC Darwen 3-1. The divisions other result saw Cleator Moor Celtic win 2-1 against Ashton Town. Into the First Division South and West Didsbury & Chorlton's relentless march towards a Premier Division return shows no sign of wading with a 7-0 win at St Martins. New Mills are hot on their heels though and they had a 4-0 win over Sandbach United. In third place are Abbey Hey, who won 2-1 away at Ellesmere Rangers, whilst FC Isle of Man are in fourth place, the Islanders winning 2-1 against Rocester in front of a quite superb crowd of 2,012. Eccleshall's revival continued with a 3-2 win over Cheadle Town, but 2-1 was the scoreline of the day with SIX results from the division on the day being that scoreline! As well as Abbey Hey and FC IoM, Cammell Laird
LATEST ROUND UP WE LOOK AT ALL OF THE RESULTS IN THE PREMIER DIV SINCE OUR LAST HOME GAME 1907 won 2-1 on the road at Barnton, with Brocton beating Alsager Town 2-1 at home. Stockport Town also won by that scoreline at home to Maine Road, as did Wythenshawe Amateurs against Abbey Hulton United. Into midweek and there was just two league games that took place. In the Premier Division, Charnock Richard were comfortable 4-0 winners at Vauxhall Motors, with Bury AFC going one better in the First Division North as they won 5-0 at home to South Liverpool. Midweek was cup time though with plenty of County Cup action. It was a stunning night for Eccleshall in the Staffordshire County Cup on Tuesday as they drew 1-1 with Port Vale after 90 minutes. Step forward goalkeeper Eric Merner, who saved ALL FIVE of Port Vale's penalty's in the shootout with his side winning by the strange penalty scoreline of 1-0! Ckeator Moor Celtic had the most comfortable win in the Cumberland Cup, 7-0 against Keswick, with Avro winning 1-0 at Curzon Ashton in the Manchester. Premier Cup. West Didsbury & Chorlton won 4-3 at Prestwich Heys in the Lancashire Challenge Trophy, but Daisy Hill and Squires Gate went out. Sandbach United went out of the Cheshire Senior Cup at Crewe Alexandra, with Barnoldswick Town losing at Liversedge in the West Riding Cup. On Wednesday there was more Lancashire Challenge Trophy action, with our visitors Ashton winning at Longridge and AFC Darwen beating Wythenshawe Amateurs.

WE TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT HAS HAPPENED IN THE PAST ON THE 20th NOVEMBER
We have played five times on this day with our last in 2010 when we beat Eccleshall 3-1, Tony Wynne, Marvin Molyneux and Dave Roberts scoring. In 1999 we beat Mersey Royal 4-2, Simon Burton (2), Colin Kudrycx and Paul Dwyer scoring. The other two games we played were all 3-2 away losses. Heswall Reserves in 1993 (Terry McCabe, Paul Howard), Ditton in 1982 (Keith Lee, OG), and Golborne Sports in 1976 (Paul Gibbons, Gordon Mayne).
In 1947 Princess Elizabeth married Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten, who became the Duke of Edinburgh, at Westminster Abbey in London. They received 2,500 wedding gifts from around the world. They had a son name Charles on 14 November 1948, and a daughter Anne on 15 August 1950. They reached an incredible 73 years of marriage befor Prince Philip died on 9 April 2021.
ON THIS DAY
In 1820, a 80-ton sperm whale attacks and sinks the whaling ship Essex, 2,000 miles from the western coast of South America. The 20-man crew were forced into severe dehydration, starvation, and exposure on the open ocean, and the survivors eventually resorted to eating the bodies of the crewmen who had died. Herman Melville's 1851 novel Moby-Dick is in part inspired by this story.
In 1903, Geo Lefevre and Henri Desgrange create Tour de France bicycle race. The roots of the Tour de France trace back to the two rival sports newspapers, Le Vélo and the newer L'Auto. Sales were stagnating, so Lefevre suggested a six-day race around France. L'Auto's mission was accomplished. Circulation doubled throughout the race, with Le Vélo going out of business in 1904!

NEXT GAME
Ashton Town (Home) Tuesday 7.30pm VIRIDOR COMM STADIUM
TOWN LOSE 9-GOAL THRILLER! Runcorn Town Development Team's improvement was evident once again last Saturday, with the tean ultimately going down 5-4 to Nantwich Town in a thrilling game. It was the home side who took the lead after just five minutes, with Kobe McWilliams taking advantage of some slack defending the fire home. Three minutes later, Town were level with Ash Power slotting home after a great pass from Levi Chiduku. And ten minutes later Town took the lead, Alehandro Kukovica doing excellently on the right before delivering a pinpoint ball for Power to score his second. Town wasted several chances to increase the lead, and were punished with the last kick of the half when McWilliams fired home across goal from just outside the box. The second half was a close
affair with McWilliams scoring his hat-trick with a carbon copy of his first goal. However Town were level within a minute, Chiduku forcing a fine save by the home keeper with Morgan Gunther slotting home. With 20 minutes remaining, a run down the left hand side saw a low cross which McWilliams guided into the corner of the net for his fourth goal of the game. And this time they capitalised on it with Josh Thornton making it 5-3 with a deft header just four minutes later. Town's task got harder as Tom Randall's was dismissed for a second yellow card following a strong challenge in the home side's half. Town did pull one back with 11 minutes remaining when a corner from the left was turned in by Chris McShane from close range, however we could not force an equaliser.

UNDER 15s TEAM PEX HILL WIN, LUKE LITTLER WINS PDF IRISH OPEN!
NEXT GAME
The Under 15s took on Pex Hill Pumas on Saturday morning at The Heath Park, with the Widnes side running out 9-0 winners. They went behind in the first minute, but had the better of the chances throughout the half from Jack McLaughlin-Light, Owen McLaughlin and Callum Kerwin-Lowe.
Runcorn Linnets Blues Saturday 27th Nov 2021 Apex Taxis Stadium 11.00 Kick Off
Pex Hill scored twice later in the half to make it 3-0 at the break, with Ethan Glover making a couple of great saves. Four quick goals from the visitors followed, Aaron Pimblett's free kick from 25 yards hitting the post. Two more late goals followed as Pex Hill ran out comfortable winners.
One player missing was Luke Littler, who was in Ireland on darts duty. He went and stunned the darting world by lifting the Irish Open on Saturday, the youngest ever person to win a BDO / WDF event. Luke beat Stephen Geoghegan and Owen Carr 4-1 before a 4-0 win over Nauris Gleglu in the last 16. He then beat David Concannon 4-2 and Ben Hazel 5-2 before beating Barry Copeland 6-2 in the Final. As well as £3,500 in prize money, the Irish Open is categorised as a gold event by the WDF. Littler's victory therefore qualifies him for the World Championships, which will be played at Lakeside in January 2022!

UNDER 16s TEAM TOWN REACH CHESHIRE CUP QUARTERS, LEAGUE CUP NEXT Tommy Crane was the hero for the Under 16s as they progressed in the Cheshire Cup. They took on Brooklands Dragons at the Viridor Community Stadium on Sunday. Town had the better of the first half. On 5 minutes Owen Chadwick’s long throw was flicked on and Lucas Ramsden’s shot was saved by the keeper. Charlie Shapley had a long range shot wide and Jaden Keogh tested the keeper with another effort from distance. Owen Chadwick came close on 14 minutes when he ran on to Jimmy O’Rourke’s through ball, went round the keeper, but the Brooklands defence got back quickly to block Chadwick’s shot from a tight angle. On 20 minutes Brooklands were awarded a penalty, but
Tommy Crane made a fine save from the spot kick. Brooklands had another good chance with a shot from close range just wide.
NEXT GAME
Keogh’s free kick was well held by the keeper as Town ended the half strongly. The second half saw fewer chances, but Crane was called upon to make a couple of smart saves. Keogh’s shot from 25 yards was just over the bar, but Town were unable to find a way through a well organised defence. The game went straight to penalties. Brooklands scored their first penalty and Billy McNay’s kick was saved. Crane saved the next 3 Brooklands penalties with Jaden Keogh, Luke Graven and Owen Chadwick scoring to seal a 3-1 win.
Lymm Piranhas Tornados Sunday 21st Nov 2021 Sandy Lane Ground, Lymm 11.00 Kick Off The Lymm game above is in the First Round of the Warrington League Presidents Cup. If scores are level after 90 minutes then the winner shall be decided by the taking of penalties from the penalty spot.

The NWCFL have now released the fixtures from Saturday 20th November 2021 until the end of the season, which this season is on Saturday 2nd April 2021. Home games are in white with away games in blue. The fixtures have changed a little since they were first released. At first glance it Q appears that we finish with five away games, but this is because we have brought Q forward games against Winsford United and also Ashton Athletic, in order to get games played before the bad weather hits. It is still the league's intention to play the Macron Cup this year presuming that we get the league season finished on time. This will be as an end of season competition starting in April.
NEXT FOR TOWN RUNCORN TOWN HIT THE ROAD AFTER TODAY'S GAME AS WE VISIT CHARNOCK RICHARD FOLLOWED BY LOWER BRECK
Next up for Runcorn Town is a couple of away games before we face Avro here at the Viridor Community Stadiun on Friday 10th December 2021 (kick off 7.45pm). With midweek's now finished for Runcorn Town for the winter, our next game is seven days today when we take a trip to Charnock Richard on Saturday 27th November 2021 (kick off 3.00pm). Charnock will be looking to complete their first league double over us after winning here 4-1 on Saturday 16th October 2021. Keiron Holsgrove scored our only goal that day from the penalty spot, with Brad Carsley getting two and Lewis Haydock and Jordan Darr one each for the visitors. Charnock have had a decent season and at the time of writing are sitting in 6th place in the Premier Division. They got off to a flyer, winning their first three league games including a 9-1 win over today's opponents. They struggled a little until the start of October when they won six games on the run but they
42
have lost their last two games against Wythenshawe Town and Burscough. There's not a lot to choose from between us and Charnock with both of us winning three games with one ending in a draw. We have scored 11 goals with Charnock also scoring 11 goals. Strangely there have been eight different goalscorers for us against Charnock with Dale Jennings, Simon Thelwell and Harry Brazel on two each. After that we visit Lower Breck for the first ever time after they were promoted to the NWCFL Premier Division at the end of last season. We have played Lower Breck just once at First Team level with that coming earlier on in the first half of the season. Ryan Cox and Ben Greenop were on target for us in a 2-2 draw on Tuesday 14th September 2021. Breck sit 9th currently, and seem to be on a pattern this season of winning two or three then losing two or three.
