SHORT STAY BOOKING CONSULTANT FLINDERS | PORTSEA | SORRENTO | BLAIRGOWRIE

How long have you been in real estate and what was the trigger for this career choice?

I started working for RT Edgar in Flinders as a Short Stay Coordinator in 2010. I had spent my previous career working in the Australian Feature Film Industry in production, art department and construction until I had my first child in 2005. Returning to work with young children was a focused choice but I had no idea how well my skillset would suit Short Stay rentals and Real Estate. You need to be a self starter, logistics specialist, customer service negotiator/concierge/troubleshooter and circus juggler - having a sense of humor is a bonus. I actually really love this industry and especially this particular team of unique individuals who have been carefully selected to create the most wonderful mix. Perhaps you need to be a little crazy to succeed in such a dynamic industry?

What is an interesting fact about you that clients may not know?

I am a true self starter. I flew to New York at 18 years old with AUD$500, one phone number and landed in the snow in Brooklyn. I stayed 5 months working as a stills photography assistant in fashion and portraits, and was offered a green card until I had to return home to Sydney to meet previous work commitments. On arrival home, back to my job, I was fired on the spot. They didn’t like me doing better than them. Classic tall poppy syndrome. I didn’t return to New York until 10 years later.

‘We live local, we are local’ - where do you live, and what do you love about your community?

I live locally with my 2 teenage children, 1 dog, and 2 cats. My children attended Red Hill Consolidated and are currently at secondary school. We live close to McCrae beach which allows the kids to pack their togs so they can hop off the bus on a hot day and jump straight into the water to cool down (living the dream). I walk my dog at McCrae where the water is crystal clear, the sand is clean and I really don’t mind sharing it with visitors because we are so lucky to call this home.

What has been your greatest accomplishment at RT Edgar Mornington Peninsula?

Assisting guests find their ideal holiday home to spend time with family and friends. They are making memories and I am so thrilled to be a part of this process. Oon the other hand, assisting and guiding owners in sharing their private homes with our wonderful guests. We are “experience coordinators” for both parties.

What does ‘down time’ look like for you?

Is this a trick question? I’m a full time working, single Mum! Actually my ‘down time’ is spent cooking, walking the dog, watching movies with my children, (secretly watching Moto GP racing, darts, boxing and any other sport you could think of!), and planning what my future will look like when I get real ‘down time’ one day. It’s nice to dream.
