1652. Chang and Eng Bunker Signed Photograph. World-famous

conjoined twins (1811-1874) born in Siam (now Thailand) from which the phrase ‘Siamese twins’ is derived. They toured the world in various curiosity shows and were occasionally promoted by P. T. Barnum. Uncommon 2.5 x 4 carte-de-visite portrait of Chang and Eng Bunker side-by-side, signed in the lower border in pencil, “Eng” and “& Chang.” Published by the London Stereoscopic & Photographic Company. 1653. Emmy Award (Outstanding Achievement in Electronics Camera Effects, 1961–62) . Iconic original

Emmy statuette awarded to ABC technical director Ted Hurley, standing 15˝ tall with a base diameter of 7.5˝, engraved on the base: “Outstanding Achievement in Electronics Camera Effects, 1961–62 Awards Period, Ted Hurley, Technical Director, Ernie Kovacs Specials, ABC.” In fine condition, with some minor wear and scratches to the base. Accompanied by an archive of affiliated ephemera, highlighted by Hurley’s production documents, storyboards, and scripts (authored by Kovacs himself) for the award-winning shows: Ernie Kovacs Special #6 (aired 11/21/61) and Ernie Kovacs Special #7 (aired 12/12/61). Also includes congratulatory letters to Hurley, an invitation and two golden passes to the Emmy award ceremony, and a photograph of Hurley posing with the award.

The eight Ernie Kovacs Show half-hour specials aired on ABC from April 1961 to January 1962, and are considered to be Kovacs’ best television work. From a production standpoint, these specials were innovative in that they were shot on videotape using new editing and special effects techniques. A supremely desirable Emmy award, enhanced by the inclusion of papers pertaining to the production of these classic television specials. Starting Bid $300

1655. W. C. Fields Autograph Letter Signed. Scarce ALS

signed “Great Man,” two pages, 6 x 9.5, Soboba Mineral Hot Springs (San Jacinto, California) letterhead, January 20, 1939. Handwritten letter to Carlotta Douglas, in part: “The picture is not finished and they are trying to give me the works. But I have every confidence of winning as usual. Even if I lose I always feel there will be a rematch & I will win that fight.” Fields adds a couple of postscripts, signing “G.M.” at the conclusion. In fine condition. las’ Award. Screen-used ‘Korben Dallas’ award from the 1997 sci-fi action film The Fifth Element, starring Bruce Willis as Korben Dallas and Milla Jovovich as Leeloo, visible in the scene when ‘Father Cornelius’ (Ian Holm) knocks ‘Dallas’ (Willis) unconscious in his apartment. The original prop stunt trophy is constructed of cast foam latex rubber over a supporting interior armature, expertly studio-painted gold with antique embellishment and “Korben Dallas” in transfer lettering on the base. Exhibits production handling wear and minor chipping to paint. Starting Bid $300

Used Drum Set. The B-52’s screen-used primitive drum set from the 1994 film The Flintstones, visible when the B-52’s (as the BC-52’s) play at a dance and in the movie’s promotional theme song music video. The eight-piece drum kit includes: (1) stool, (1) kit with bass drum, (1) working kick drum pedal, (1) hi hat cymbals with foot pedal, (2) shell standalone cymbals, (1) floor drum and (1) snare drum on branch stand. Constructed of drum parts and cast fiberglass shells expertly assembled and finished to appear cartoon-primitive. Pieces range in size from 41˝ x 41˝ (kit) to 51˝ tall (cymbal). Accompanied by an original crew jack from the film, with “Yabba-DabbaDoo” embroidered on the front and the Flintstones logo embroidered on the back. Starting Bid $500

Screen-used quarter-sawn tiger oak school hall bench from the 1994 Oscar-winning film Forrest Gump, highly visible when a young ‘Forrest Gump’ (played by Michael Conner Humphreys) sits straight-backed upon it outside the county school’s office while his mother, ‘Mrs. Gump’ (Sally Field), and the principal (Sam Anderson) have a discussion about his schooling. The wooden bench features a bowed back with slats running the length of it, curved arms and cross bars on the side and back legs. Its unique wood grain positively matches on screen. The handsome bench measures 48˝ x 35˝ x 23˝. Although Forrest Gump was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, it was not one of the six Oscars won by the film.

Uniform. Tom Hanks’s screen-worn Class-A military uniform costume from his Oscar-winning title role in the 1994 film Forrest Gump. Hanks wears the uniform during the scenes at the anti-Vietnam War rally in Washington, D.C., and when he is hanging with the hippies there. The complete signature green wool U.S. Army uniform includes: (1) fully decorated jacket with rank insignias on sleeves, pins on epaulets, baby blue braid around right shoulder, bars and pins on left breast pocket, rifleman pins, and “Gump” name tag, (1) pair of matching pants with internal handwritten, “Tom Hanks Gump” and black woven belt, (1) khaki long-sleeve button-up shirt, (1) military hat with interior handwritten, “Tom Hanks, F. Gump, #3,” and (1) black tie. Hanks received the Academy Award for Best Leading Actor for his performance in Forrest Gump, one of six Oscars won by the film (including Best Picture).

1662. Harry Houdini Signed Book. Signed

book: The Unmasking of Robert–Houdin. First edition. NY: The Publishers Printing Company, 1908. Hardcover, 5.75 x 8.25, 333 pages. Signed prominently on the first free end page in fountain pen by Harry Houdini. Additionally, the title page has been purportedly signed by the son of JeanEugene Robert-Houdin. Autographic condition: fine, with scattered stains to the signed page. Book condition: VG-/None, with rubbing and light staining to boards. Houdini billed this controversial book as ‘the first authentic history of magic ever published,’ and contained within it an unflattering account of Houdini’s legendary predecessor and namesake Jean Eugene Robert-Houdin, alleging that he had taken undue credit for other magicians’ innovations. 1663. Harry Houdini Typed Letter Signed. TLS signed “Houdini,” one page, 8.5 x 5.5, personal letterhead, June 11, 1923. Fantastic letter to Richard Van Dien, former president of the Society of American Magicians (S.A.M.), referencing several fellow magicians. In full: “I have appointed T.W. Hardeen on the Committee of Complaints—and Horace Goldin, William J. Hilliar and David Devant, representatives-at-large.” In fine condition. Van Dien served as president of the S.A.M. from 1915 to 1917, when Houdini succeeded him in the role. Houdini would serve as national president of the society until 1926. Starting Bid $200

1664. Harry Houdini Signed SAM Membership Card. Desirable blood-red Society of American Magicians membership card issued to Walter G. Peterkin for 1921, 4 x 2.5, boldly signed at the bottom in fountain pen by Harry Houdini as president, and countersigned by H. Rea Fitch as secretary. The details of the Society’s “Hospital Benefit” are printed on the reverse. In fine condition, with a light vertical crease and moderate contrast to the signatures against the dark background. Vintage matte-finish 10 x 8 photo of the cast and crew of the 1934 film Gift of Gab, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “Boris Karloff,” “Karl Freund,” “Binnie Barnes,” “June Knight—Hello Jone,” “To Jone, Douglas Montgomery,” “Roger Pryor,” and “Rian James.” In fine condition, with a crease to the upper right corner. Karl Freund was the innovative cinematographer of Metropolis, Dracula and I love Lucy. He left his mark on the horror genre with his master pieces The Mummy and Mad Love. Choice Award. People’s Choice Award presented to Robin Williams as “Favorite Funny Male Star” for the 33rd Annual People’s Choice Awards, held at Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on January 9, 2007. Made by Orrefors, the gorgeous crystal award measures 13.75˝ tall with a square base of 4˝, neatly engraved on the front: “The People’s Choice Award, 2007, Robin Williams, Favorite Funny Male Star.” The beautiful award takes the shape of a flame and is etched with the image of hands clapping. The award is in very fine condition; the original Orrefors box exhibits substantial wear.
