Students will learn skills to help them prevent disease, enhance their personal health and live a healthy life.

This course introduces students to the elements of art: line, color, shape, form, space and texture while developing creativity and imagination. Students work with a variety of materials in creative ways to capture art from life and imagination.
EXPLORE: STEM (EMS, KMS, LMS) 6 weeks 366650
EXPLORE: STEM will provide sixth grade students with a six-week introductory course that will include a core introduction unit and exploratory STEM activities. Students are introduced to the design process, problem solving activities, and hands-on STEM learning experiences.
EXPLORE: AVID (OMS only) 6 weeks 366900
AVID l serves as a foundation of the AVID philosophy and strategies. Students work on academic and personal goals, communication, and adjusting to the middle school setting. Students increase their awareness of their personal contributions to their learning, as well as their involvement in their school and community.
MUSIC
Students in 6th grade who do not take band, choir or orchestra, are required to take the Exploratory Wheel.

Grade: 6 Parents are required to provide the instrument. 2 semesters
Beginning band students will be scheduled into similar instrument classes that meet every day. Students will learn to produce a characteristic sound, understand simple musical notation and terminology, and perform two concerts a year. Students will be expected to practice at home on a regular basis.

Grade: 6 2 semesters
This is a training choir open to all interested singers. Students focus on the fundamentals of singing technique, music theory, and concert etiquette. Through performance, the students are provided with practical application of what they have learned.
Orchestra 366546
Grade:6 Parents are required to provide the instrument. 2 semesters
Students will learn the basic principles of the violin, viola, cello, or string bass. Students are scheduled in classes with similar instruments. The instrument sections must be well balanced and will meet every day.
