Why Volunteer
I am currently Southern Region Secretary and event organiser for the northern area of the Southern Region. This includes the areas of North Hampshire, Wiltshire and Berkshire that fall within the Southern Region. He also fulfils the secretarial role. I started photography in my early teens, and I am still enjoying it and trying to improve some 50 years later!
I have been a member of the Society for some time. I enjoy mixing with fellow photographers and leaning from them. Camera clubs are not my scene with their emphasis on equipment and competitions etc. I joined the committee to try and help other people with their development as photographic artists. I achieved my LRPS a few years ago and I am now working on my ARPS panel (which proving is a lot harder than I imagined!) My interests lie in Landscape, architecture, and fine art nude genres. Some of my favourite and influential photographers are Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Helmut Newton, David Bailey, Man Ray, Andre Kertesz, Duane Michals, Cecil Beaton, Norman Parkinson, Horst P. Horst and Bob Carlos Clarke.

Call for Volunteers
Would you consider volunteering with the RPS and being part of the Southern Region? We are currently looking to boost our volunteer group with members who would like to take an active part in the organisation of Southern Region events / Advisory Days and workshops. If you think you would like to give some time to the RPS as a volunteer, then please get in touch. We do not expect volunteers to give up lots of time or effort, just help with events, generate ideas, and to get a little more involved with the RPS organisation in the region.
