Trip to Finland

After a good night’s rest the international guests set off to spend the day at summer house on a lake. A perfect spring day with good company - we enjoyed more sownuh, a BBQ and plenty Salmiakki and Minttu. It was then back on the bus and off to the Finnish Barn Dance for another evening of fun, lots of fun.

Saturday was AGM and much like ARTSA there were plenty of wounded soldiers, these ones taking to the Long Drink (a Finnish blend of gin & grapefruit) to shake off the demons from the previous night. The meeting obviously held in a language foreign to us so we were treated to a helicopter flip over the resort grounds; lakes and forest everywhere but incredibly beautiful. The Finns also don’t hold “Friday Forums” so their AGM is LOOOOONG, and at 16h30 the international guests were invited in at the close to introduce themselves. Another great experience and we were very well received.

The last night was the gala dinner and a fitting end to what had been a whirlwind week. Thank you to all the people who took us in and showed us around, thank you to Anti Helle (now past Finland IRO) for pulling out all the stops and giving us the best time; and to RTSA for giving us the opportunity to see the world.

Interesting Note: In Finland, Round Table and Ladies Circle is more a fellowship / self-growth group as there is very little needed in the way of charity or community service and that really hit home with how important RTSA is in helping keep our country afloat.

It's that time of the year again. We are building up to our annual Golf Day for 2023. Be sure to get your bookings in for the George Round Table 30 and Garden Route Ladies Circle 20 Golf Day 2023. You do not want to miss this! By

George Round Table 30 adopted the same policy as our brothers down the coastline, whereby we ask that every adult that enters our clubhouse, presents a can of tinned food as an entry fee.

This is how we change things up and improve on our promise of driving and delivering impactful change. By
