Walk in support of children’s home
On the 4th May 2023, I received a call from Jethro Penny (East London #1 Chairman and Border Area Chairman) asking if Round Table 210 Alex Kenton would be able to assist one Mrs Janice Elizabeth Benn with accommodation options in Kenton on Sea. She was going to walk from Port Elizabeth to East London and needed a place to stay.
That’s a long walk, Janice.
Janice was walking to support Open Arms Childrens Home in East London. The home exists to provide a loving residential environment that serves the emotional, physical, and developmental needs of orphaned, abandoned and disadvantaged children in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.

After a few phone calls, we managed to arrange a few things. Mnr Willie Opperman (Round Table 108 Algoa Vice-Chairman) had arranged a BnB for Janice and her crew. Mr Ludwig Kruger (Round Table 55 Aliwal North IRO and Border Area PRO) had arranged for his Club to donate R1,000.00 to her event expenses. Jethro Penny had arranged accommodation in East London. I had arranged accommodation in Kenton on Sea.
In recognition of the gracious work that Table had done for Janice, Buffalo Toyota, one of her title sponsors, was gracious enough to brand her support Toyota vehicle with a beautiful RTSA Rondel. Special thanks must go out to Buffalo Toyota.
In true Table style, this work doesn’t belong to any one Table, Tabler or Area. Well done to all the members of Round Table Eastern Province and Round Table Border Area who assisted on this one.
