DELAINE BUSES Family-owned Delaine Buses of Bourne, Lincolnshire has taken delivery of a 15-plate Wrightbus Gemini 2-bodied Volvo B9TL. The vehicle has replaced a Volvo Olympian and is the seventh vehicle of its kind in the operator’s fleet. Delaine bought the body direct from Wrightbus and the chassis direct from Volvo. The chassis, which incorporates a Volvo 9-litre Euro 5 engine, was built last year and has been in storage. The vehicle also has ZF Ecolife transmission and can seat up to 75 passengers.
Anthony Delaine, Managing Director, told CBW: “We also had the first B9TL registered in the UK, a 56-plate East Lancs Olympus. It had been displayed at the Euro Bus Expo in 2006. “The new bus also has its place in the history of the B9TL. It is the last B9TL chassis to be made for the UK market, along with the last Gemini 2 body to be built by Wrightbus. “However, it will not be the last Gemini 2 to enter service, as there are still stock vehicles which have yet to be sold.

Barry Austin of Austin Travel told CBW: “The coaches have replaced older Futuras and a Van Hool coach. “We’re using them for all kinds of work, although the 12.2m is primarily being used on the AT Coach Holidays side of the business, while the 12.9m will be used more with Scotline Tours for day tours, which is a thriving part of our business.
Austin Travel, trading as Capital Scotline, has received two VDL Futura coaches from Moseley PCV Ltd – one 12.2m and one 12.9m. The vehicles are DAFpowered with 440bhp Euro 6 engines and ZF AS-Tronic transmission. The 12.9m example has 57 VDL Class 100 seats with Luxe upholstery, leather headrests and piping, while the 12.2m coach is a 53-seater, using Class 500 seats with Vogel ‘Luxe’ upholstery. Gloucestershire-based operator KB Coaches has taken recent delivery of its first 70-seater MAN MOBIpeople Explorer. The 12.5m vehicle from B.A.S.E Coach Sales joins a mixed fleet of 12 vehicles on a variety of work including local private hire and schools. “It’s popular with passengers as the wide entrance and dual doors enable rapid and safe loading,” said owner Andy Francis. “It’s performed very well since arrival and the drivers have been impressed with how quiet and solid it feels. You can tell it’s been built with the operator in mind as everything is easy to access and when you get close up it’s robustly built,
which is great.” The dual-door Explorer, supplied by Leyland-based B.A.S.E, is built to suit markets for which high seating capacity is important. It can be supplied with a choice of MAN engines at Euro 6 and in 57 to 70 seat formats and offers operators options for DDA-compliant, wheelchairaccessible platform. FACT FILE
