Bethany Leinweber, director of director of youth education and family engagement at Temple Sinai, will talk about Impact Theatre. The community educational initiative focuses on the common history of oppression and persecution of both African American and Jewish people and strives for social justice and peace The vision is to re-imagine a collaborative world exemplified by the Rev Martin Luther King Jr and Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel They joined forces to fight for social justice and civil rights Impact Theatre's goal is for high school students to engage in intergenerational discussions with local people who lived through the horrors of the Holocaust and African American elders who lived through segregation and racial discrimination Students learn about the cruelty both groups endured

Bill Porter, right, banters as Glenda Myers holds her White Elephant gift, an animated, stuffed Christmas tree. She didn't have it long; after several owners, it went home with Anne and Adam Ross. See more of the club's holiday party pictures on Pages 3-5.

VOLUNTEER TO HELP RENOVATE HOMES TO GIVE TO DESERVING VETERANS

Unit 63 in Pescara Lakes Mobile Home Park is starting to feel like a home Our skilled and dedicated volunteers have worked diligently turning this 50year- old mobile home into a unit that will be very comfortable for a well-deserved veteran to enjoy life it wouldn't be possible without the folks who donate the funds to buy the materials and the hardworking individuals who volunteer countless hours making the improvements Rotarians Terry Byce and Dan Conway worked several days last week

Over the past week ending Dec 9, most of the interior walls and ceilings were painted and repaired The exterior door was replaced The tops of the kitchen cabinets have been sanded and painted. We are installing drywall in the bathroom ,and the shower stall should be installed next week.

We are making a final push to finish the interior before Christmas. If you can join us, please do so!

We have received some of the metal to replace the carport that was damaged by the storm. We ordered the vinyl for the exterior. We hope to start both of these activities the first week in January.

If you would enjoy working on the projects and engaging in fellowship, please join us Every skill level is needed and appreciated! We are working from 7:30 to 11:30 a m Monday, Tuesday and Thursday the week of Dec 12 at Pescara Lake, 570 57th Ave. W.,Bradenton.

If you would like to participate in these efforts – onsite work or ramp installation – contact Lakewood Ranch Rotarian Terry Byce (terry.byce@verizon.net or 703627-7765) or Greg Kisella (text 850-585-1698 or gkiselaonm@gmail.com).
