We are honored to welcome District 6960 Governor Neil Snyder for his official visit to our club. He will be introduced by Lakewood Ranch Rotarian Steve Bordes, the 2022 23 Area 9 Assistant Governor. Neil has been a proud member of the Rotary Club of Marco Island Sunrise since 2011. His leadership accomplishments include 2016 17 club president and Area 1 Assistant Governor in 2018 2019. Neil is a managing partner with his wife, Rebecca, also a Sunrise Rotarian, in the Law Offices of Hodge and Snyder since its founding in 2010. Neil is committed to the work of The Rotary Foundation. He is a Sustaining Member, Major Donor and a member of the Paul Harris Society and the Bequest Society. In 2017, Neil received the Marco Eagle Citizen of the Year Award, presented through the Marco Island Chamber of Commerce. Between 2016 and 2020, Neil and Rebecca were foster parents and are proud to have helped siblings through some of the most difficult times in their young lives.

Rotary classification talks allow us to learn a little more about our fellow Rotary Club of Lakewood Ranch members. Last week, we heard Susan Courter and Jared Motzenbecker share information about their vocations, personal lives, and what it means to be a Rotarian.

A SEVEN-YEAR ACCESSIBLE PLAYGROUND MISSION BECOMES A REALITY

Manatee River Rotarian Tom Norton, left, who has been spearheading the Rotary’s Suncoast Playground Projects, was among those celebrating the groundbreaking of the long awaited accessible playground supported by five Manatee County Rotary clubs. Lakewood Ranch Rotarians Paul Hoenle, third from left, and Pres Olinger, second from right, attended the event Oct. 11 at Lewis Park, 3120 First Ave. W., Bradenton. The inspiration for the $415.000 project came in 2016 from Easton, now 11, who was born with spina bifida, and his mom, Jennifer Crofoot, shown in the center of the photo. The playground equipment is being delivered this month and construction will be completed in January, according to the contractor’s timeline. Once completed, the Americans with Disabilities Act compliant playground will be the only purpose built destination of its kind in the area, serving children of all ages and abilities in the City of Bradenton, Manatee County and our surrounding area. Learn more about the playground by clicking here. Our club has donated over $50,000 to the project, which is supported by all five Manatee County Rotary clubs.

SMALL GROUP MEALS RETURN; SIGN UP TO BE A HOST OR GUEST

The Small Group Meal program is under way Two clipboards with sign up sheets are being passed around at club meetings One sheet is for hosts and the other one is for people to attend as a guest Hosts receive event guidelines and an invitation template Pairings between hosts and guests are made with considerations such as mixing longstanding members with newer ones, or those with complementary interests, or just randomly putting people together knowing that they will enjoy finding out about each other

The wait time for an invitation depends on when and how many members sign up to be hosts If you sign up as a guest, you will be invited to a Small Group Meal A $25 contribution per guest goes to the discretionary fund of the Rotary Club of Lakewood Ranch Contact Dorothy Bodenburg at 714 960 0971 for any questions
