A Letter from the Editor It is with great excitement that I debut the first holiday gift guide for ROSE & IVY Journal. This limited edition issue is extra special for a few reasons, but the most important being the fact that you can purchase a physical copy directly on the website. Going into print has been the goal since the magazine launched over a year ago, I hope that you enjoy it and why not give the gift of beauty this year with a copy of the Journal? Place flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in a medium bowl. Whisk to combine. Place butter and sugar in a large bowl. Using a mixer beat until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks and vanilla and continue to mix.

Slowly add flour mixture and beat until combined. Roll into a disk and wrap in plastic wrap. Chill for at least one hour or up to two days. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

On a floured surface roll dough until it is 1/8 inch thick. Using a circular cookie cutter, cut out rounds and place on baking sheet. Chill cutout cookies for 30 minutes.

Bake for 12 to 14 minutes or until cookies are just golden. Let cool completely on a cooling rack. Sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired.

Salted Coconut Truf fles The versatile chocolate truffle is elevated by being rolled in flaked coconut and garnished with sea salt flakes.

Place chopped chocolate into a heat-proof bowl. Bring one cup of heavy cream to a simmer on the stove taking care not to scald cream. Pour over chocolate and let set for about 3 minutes.

Whisk to combine. Add vanilla, salt and stir until mixture is smooth. Refrigerate until completely cooled and chocolate becomes solid. Place coconut on a plate. Using a small cookie scoop, form small balls with chocolate and roll into coconut and garnish with sea salt flakes. Repeat until finished. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
