London 28th of September to the 2nd of October 7 So much preparation had been done, so many emails had been sent but now had the time finally come for our first meeting in our project: XPLICIT.

Sunday 28th of September First session was to be held in London, and our Danish group had an early start from home. We arrived in London, Stansted, Sunday morning at 7.30 am. First stop was at our hotel situated close to the British Museum in Holborn. Nearest tube station Russell Square. We had a quick stop at our hotel and then we went for a bit of sightseeing before meeting up with the Finnish and Swedish teams as well as the headmaster Mr. Dagastir of London Nautical school and Mr. Yuksel, the British coordinator from London Nautical School. We had a very fine first meeting in a very cozy Italian restaurant in the Waterloo area. It was a great start for all of us. An exquisite meal and it was really nice meeting our new friends and colleagues. Monday 29th of September The day was spent in the London Nautical School. We had a tour of the school by Mr. McGregor the deputy headmaster. We were invited into some classes as well. Everyone we met were very friendly and interested in our project. It was a great experience.

We had a lot to discuss and talk about. Rose-Marie Conway introduced the project to us and we made many plans for the future. Rose-Marie is our

coordinator. Mr. Price from the Nautical school told us about a program he uses a lot in class called Plickers. All in all we had an informative day and were given a lot to think about. Monday evening was on our own. And in order to have a bit of cultural experience as well the Danish team visited Gordon’s Winebar very close to Charing Cross. Quite an experience.

ICT training at London Connected Learning Center in Clapham Common As a large part in starting up our new project we all received training in using Ipads, Macs and PCs. Our teacher was Ms. Carrasco, who did an amazing job in guiding us through a day and a half hands on training. We had the opportunity to get a special designed course that reached the requirement in the application form and more. During the first day we used programs as Poplet, Linoit and Explain Everything. We went outside with the iPads and filmed and edited out movies in iMovie. It was a great fun. Obviously we will need a lot of practice before we begin to master the programs. MsCarrasco also gave many good example how we could use QR-codes, animations (I can Animate) andBook creator in our classrooms. That evening Mr Yuksel and his wife took us to aTurkish restaurant close to our hotel. It was a lovely meal and there was a great atmosphere at the restaurant. Wednesday 1st of October The second day we worked with different programs for sound recordings, like Garageband, Audacity and Soundation. These programs were basically the same but we all, I think, found a favorite that suite our own preference. During this second day we did some filming as well and edited it in Movie Maker. Ms Carrasco has been so kind to sent us many useful links that we can use when we continue our work After a quick lunch we went back to London Nautical to make out final decisions about the budget, activities and such. In the evening the Danish team went to Fulham to watch a football match at Craven Cottage between Fulham FC and Bolton. It was a very good experience for us. Fulham won the game 4-0 and the young Dane Lasse Christensen scored a goal. That gave us something to brague about the next day.

The Danish delegation at the Tower of London

Our last day started with a visit to the Tower of London. It was very interesting walking around inside the old castle, enjoying the atmosphere and learning about its history. We were all very impressed with the beautiful red poppies that had been placed in the moat as a symbol for the people lost during the World War 1. After a typical English lunch at a local pub close to the school, we all had our last meeting, were given our certificates and said our goodbyes, The Danish team is very pleased with the week in London, we are really looking forward to the next two years and we especially want to thank the British team for a wonderful week and a great start to our new project!
