So, in essence, Sensory Me is a unique multi-sensory facility which caters for both children and adults with additional needs. Furthermore, all children are welcome to attend, either to enjoy one of the open play times and/or for parties, etc. The new proprietors are Jennifer and Ed Payne. They are, says Jennifer, “dairy farmers from Tulsk”. Now they have certainly diversified! They had been big fans of the facility in Goff Street, Roscommon and were dismayed at the prospect of it possibly being lost to the community, as Jennifer explains. “Our two children – Aaron and Ben – used to come here. They loved the
place. So we were aware of this great facility. It was opened by Dermot and Fiona Sutton in June 2017. What they achieved was remarkable and I would really like to acknowledge that. When Sensory Me closed last September, we thought ‘this can’t happen’. We absolutely loved the place…there are so few places like this, we thought ‘this can’t be lost to Roscommon’.” Thus, they took the big venture on – and Sensory Me re-opened in February under the ownership of Jennifer and Ed. “I will still be helping out with the farming,” Jennifer laughs, “but we are delighted to have taken over Sensory Me. We are open 7 days a week and it has been very busy. We’ve got off to a great start, and we’d really like to thank everyone for their good wishes and support”.
