of the river Mono and later crossed the river, penetrating through the forest on the west bank and arrived at Nuatja, a town founded by the advanced group from Ketu, later known as Notsie.
Notsie was walled to protect its people in the many communities living within its walls. Each community with its leader (A Sub Chief). Each of these chiefs ruled and presided over matters concerning his own people and periodically reporting to the supreme King. The clan of Notsie became known as Dogboawo clan. Later after the death of the Supreme King came a dispute over the succession of the throne between Togbi Sri and his step-brothers, Togbi Sri then fled with the stool and join his uncle Amega Ʋenya. A wave of migration began from Notsie which saw a division of the Dogboawo people into three broad groups and founded the states of Be, Togo, Wheta, Anlo, Klikor, Ave, Fenyi Afife, Dzodze, Mafi, Agave, Tavie, Tokoe and Tanyigbe. These three broad groups is what is now known in our modern day as the Right Wing, The Middle Wing and the Left Wing.

The chiefs and people of Ga Dangbe Association of Toronto [GDAT] have advised the strong and energetic youth to hate all sorts of crimes so that they can enjoy peace and development that is going on in Canada.
Chief of Ga Dangbe Association of Toronto, Nii Kwei Anku II, gave the advice when he met other chiefs, queen mothers, wulomo and the people of the association to celebrate this year’s annual Ga Homowo Festival in the city on quite recently.
He noted that, since there is no quick and easy way to acquire wealth, the youth should acquire requisite knowledge and skills in various professions and disciplines to apply their knowledge and skills to create the needed jobs to bring the money for them to live responsible lives wherever they find themselves.
He emphasized that the youth should hate crimes including stealing, armed robbery, fraud, pornography, online hate speeches, online scams and duping activities which do not bring peace and development but rather destruction to perpetrators.

The chief congratulated the young adults who successfully completed their programmes in various institutes of higher learning or colleges and universities observing that, it was difficult to do so in Covid-19 pandemic season but they made everybody proud by coming out with flying colors.
Nii Kwei Anku appealed to the youth to take advantage of all the good policies and programmes the government and organizations are rolling out in order for them to be able to live responsible lives in their various localities, communities, societies and cities.
Toronto Ga Mantse further appealed to Ghanaians to continue being law abiding citizens by strictly obeying Covid-19 safety protocols to continue staying safe in order to enjoy peace and development together.
“Please continue to wear your mask to avoid being infected or spreading the deadly virus, constantly wash your hands with soap under running water, sanitize your hands regularly and maintain physical distance wherever necessary so that we can help flatten the curve for the government to lift all restrictions for us to go about our social responsibilities without any trouble” he urged all. On occasion like Ga Homowo festival in Toronto, one would expect huge attendance as always recorded. However, the Covid-19 pandemic still affecting lives, this year’s event did not record huge attendance as it used to be as the event was attended by strictly vaccinated members.

Sadly Nii Kwei Anku remembered members and loved ones who passed away due to a short illness and said sorry for their loss to their bereaved families and ask God to comfort their families as their hearts and minds are with them.
Besides that, he shared the association’s joy by congratulating members and loved ones who brought forth successfully to add up to the numbers of the association as well as those who have successfully resettled in the city.

“ Not leaving our frontline workers, teachers, education staff, parents, students and civil servants who all worked together to flatten the curve for us to stay safe, we say well done for owning up to the task and urge you to continue doing your work” he said.
He urged all to join him to thank the president of the republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo for the appointment of the Greater Regional Minister Mr. Henry Quartey, who is working hard with all stakeholders to ensure that Accra and for that matter Ghana’s national capital works again.
A special thanks was also said by Nii Kwei Anku to the Ga King, Ga Mantse Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru ii, for his quality leadership which is bringing all Ga divisional chiefs together to work in unity and harmony to maintain peace and development in the Ga Traditional Area [GTA] in Ghana.
Accordingly, “It would be appreciated if we in our diverse ways support his rolled out policies and programmes for education, tradition, culture, sanitation and tourism.”
As a traditional chief of the Ga people in Toronto, he charged all to do well to brighten the corner where they find themselves by practicing good hygiene, proper disposal of refuse and garbage since cleanliness is next to Godliness.
Nii Kwei Anku, prayed for good health and long life for members and all residents to stay safe and continue to live so that all could meet to give thanks to God for bringing us far when they meet again next year.
It was culture at its best when the chiefs, queen mothers and the Wulomo dressed in their native Ga apparels and native sandals to demonstrate their true tradition and culture that they are holding fast onto in TorontoCanada.

Ga traditional food [Kpokpoi] and other sumptuous dishes were served to the delightful taste of all who attended the event.
