Cayenne/Macan Register Run

You always need to get up early to get to Haunted Hills on time and you never know what weather conditions await!

Well on arrival it was not what most competitors wanted, Cold, Raining & Windy. The exact opposite of what we encountered on our last visit here in 2019, which was very hot and in the mid 30’s. But NO where near as bad as 2016.

Those that did not book a Garage, scampered to find shelter, The Scrutineering Shed became “Coxy’s Shed” as Phil very quickly staked a claim, with a number of others following suit, myself included.

Others found shelter in their Cars or the Club House or imposing their hospitality on those that did have a garage.

The briefings were held in the shelter of the Club House, with new members welcomed and the run order confirmed to be Groups 1,2 & 3 and then Entrée Class to follow. Over the Three layouts, “The Figure 8”, The Outer Loop and last The Short Track. A Conga line was held for those who wished to refresh their memory and for all participants in Entrée Class.

There were 34 entrants in Competition Class and a Full Field of 10 in Entrée Class. Many for their first foray into a PCV Track Event. They would have thought “what have I got myself into.” I helped out Stewart in his Boxster (his first event), after a tentative start and a couple runs under his belt he finished the day with some good runs and a big smile on his face. Hopefully Stewart will be back.

Because most of us started this way, which is one of the great innovations of our club.

The honours on the day over the three layouts went to

1st – Greg Muller 718 Cayman S

2nd – Daniel Reynolds 911 SC Carrera

3rd - Phil Treloar 996 GT3

Well done and Congratulations!! You were brave souls to push in the conditions.

A big Thank You to Breanna from “The One Shot / Two Shot Coffee Caravan” for her great Coffee and an assortment of hot food, which helped warm us all up.

Talking of keeping warm, The marshals looked splendid in their Lime Green Fluoro wet weather gear. Even if some of you looked a bit bedraggled and cold by the end of the day.

A massive Thank You to you All, for your great effort and dedication.

Also Thanks to Chris Carolan for keeping us all informed over the P.A. (which conked See you at the 6 Hour at Sandown.
