CHOOSE THE BEST, CHOOSE DR.PAD The three contact points between rider and bicycle are: FOOT, PERINEAL/ISCHIAL AREA AND HAND. The perineal area endures the most compression and friction issues of the anatomy it contains. It can be represented as a hollow containing all external genital organs, bordering at either side with the ischial tuberosities, at the front with the pubic symphysis and below with the coccyx. The perineal area problems in cyclists can be of nervous and/or circulatory origin. The first instance happens because during the pedalling action, the thigh extends backwards, the pudendal nerve strains causing, if not properly protected, numbness to lower limbs and genitals. Perineal circulatory issues may depend on the cyclist’s body weight which, leaning on the saddle, can cause arterial failure. The blood, and therefore oxygen, stops flowing as regularly as before into the perineal area and genitals, generating dysfunctions and inflammations. Elements such as cyclist position, saddle types and cycling pads can reduce or zero down the above problems. DR.PAD pads are high quality technologic products. They present features such as high protection, adequacy to specific bicycles and cyclist types in order to guarantee top performance and comfort. The correct positioning on the saddle is assured by design research and by different density foams, distributed on key pressure points. This way, possible urogenital system dysfunctions may be prevented. Yarns have been chosen specifically to be utilized in cycling pads production; they are not derived from different industrial utilizations. Fabrics are made of precious polyamide microfibers, assuring maximum compatibility and a fresh softness which does not warm up the skin touching them. Their specific structure facilitates perspiration and allows fast drying of the area touching the skin. All fabrics are fast colour guaranteed, resistant to the top aggressive factor: sweat. The most important material of a DR.PAD pad is foam. DR.PAD selected the most performing foams for their high DENSITY and WEIGHT CAPACITY, able to guarantee high protection and perspiration. The foam WEIGHT CAPACITY determines cushioning power and elastic memory in time. DENSITY is the value of the foam weight per square meter. Often in more economical pads, density being equal and carrying capacity being less, foams of a lesser density lose their cushioning effectiveness after a short use. Another essential concept for DR.PAD is bacteriostasis. All bacteria, including the “good” ones, are removed by an antibacteric treatment. A bacteriostatic treatment, instead, acts by stopping bacteria proliferation, preserving at the same time the useful ones living on our skin. Moreover, antibacterial compounds, as well as being toxic, can lead to the creation of resistant bacteria strains. DR.PAD adopts guarantees of excellence for its fabrics: OEKO-TEX® certifies all employed materials, meaning that all materials have been successfully tested and that they are non-toxic, as required by the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100. All fabrics can be treated with POLYGIENE technology, for the odour check certificate.

SCEGLI IL MEGLIO: SCEGLI DR.PAD I tre punti di contatto tra uomo e bicicletta sono: PIEDE, ZONA PERINEALE/ISCHIATICA E MANO. La seconda è quella più gravata da problematiche legate allo sfregamento ed alla compressione degli organi in essa contenute. La zona perineale, può essere indicativamente rappresentata come un incavo che contiene gli organi genitali esterni. É, infatti, delimitata lateralmente dalle due tuberosità ischiatiche, in avanti dalla sinfisi pubica e in basso dal coccige. Le problematiche della zona perineale nei ciclisti possono essere di natura nervosa e/o circolatoria. Nel primo caso, perchè durante la pedalata, con l’estensione della coscia all’indietro si potrebbe ottenere lo stiramento del nervo pudendo che può portare all’intorpidimento dei genitali e degli arti inferiori, se non adeguatamente protetto. Le problematiche di natura circolatoria dipendono dal peso del corpo del ciclista, che poggiandosi sulla sella può provocare un’insufficienza arteriosa. Viene in pratica impedito il corretto apporto di sangue ed ossigeno in tutta la zona dei genitali. Potrebbero avere quindi origine infiammazioni o sgradevoli disfunzioni. Elementi come la posizione corretta in sella, la tipologia della stessa e la qualità del fondello utilizzato, possono ridurre o annullare i problemi sopra riportati. I fondelli DR.PAD sono prodotti tecnologici di alta qualità. Rispondono a caratteristiche di alta protezione, di adeguatezza al tipo di bici ed al tipo di atleta, per garantire una prestazione migliore e un comfort prestazionale al top. Il corretto posizionamento in sella, viene garantito dalla ricerca del design e dall’uso di schiume di diverso spessore e diverse densità, assecondando i punti di maggior pressione in sella. Si prevengono così eventuali disfunzioni dell’apparato uro-genitale. I filati sono stati appositamente scelti per essere utilizzati nella produzione di fondelli per il ciclismo; non sono quindi un derivato da altri impieghi industriali. I tessuti sono composti da pregiatissime microfibre di poliammide in grado di garantire la massima tollerabilità, una morbida freschezza che non scalda a contatto con la pelle. La loro particolare struttura favorisce la traspirazione consentendo un’asciugatura rapida dell’area a contatto con la pelle. Tutti i tessuti sono garantiti per la stabilità del colore che ha un’ottima tenuta al primo agente corrosivo: il sudore. Il materiale primo che costituisce il fondello è la schiuma. DR.PAD ha selezionato le schiume più performanti ad alta densità e portanza, che garantiscono massima traspirazione e protezione. La PORTANZA determina il potere ammortizzante e la memoria elastica nel tempo. La DENSITA’, è il valore del peso della schiuma per m3. Spesso nei fondelli più economici, a parità di densità ma con minore portanza, una schiuma di minore densità perde la sua efficacia ammortizzante dopo un breve utilizzo. Un valore imprescindibile per DR.PAD, è la batteriostaticità. Al contrario del trattamento antibatterico, che elimina tutti i batteri, compresi quelli normalmente residenti sulla cute, il trattamento batteriostatico agisce impedendo la moltiplicazione dei batteri, salvaguardando la flora batterica naturalmente presente sulla cute. In più, le sostanze antibatteriche, oltre a possedere una certa tossicità, possono portare alla nascita di negativi ceppi resistenti. DR.PAD adotta garanzie di eccellenza per i suoi tessuti: OEKO-TEX®, infatti, è la certificazione di tutti i materiali impiegati nei fondelli DR.PAD. Among the technologies employed by Dr.Pad, you will find the best anti-shock system tested within the bike sector: gel (sebs). Deriving from specific 100% non-toxic paraffin oils, it is injected in the pad soul, through a patented system which allows its introduction into custom shapes, covering the main flattening points. Moreover, this special gel is injected into the perforated foam, allowing total transpiration.

Our vast expertise made us choose the best fabric suppliers, whose philosophy of greatest quality achievement aligns with ours. Extremely elastic, soft fabrics reduce friction while supporting the pedalling action. Highly transpiring, they transport sweat to the outside, drying up quickly. We collaborate with partners able to offer an excellent and “flexible” service, focussed on every project’s specific requirements. The large range of fabrics selected by Dr.Pad boasts a careful research. All fabrics, all Made in Italy, are the result of research and studies made in Countries whose technology is leader, such as: USA, Japan, Germany. It is a process obtained through the reaching of a specific temperature and pressure which, applied to the product, allow the permanent distortion of the material (foam-fabric) according to a pre-defined shape. That is also possible thanks to thermoadhesive films which bind together the different layers, by melting, maintaining elasticity and transpiration. TERMOFORMATURA Processo ottenuto tramite il raggiungimento di una determinata temperatura e pressione che, applicate al prodotto, permettono la permanente deformazione del materiale (schiuma-tessuto) secondo una forma prestabilita. Ciò è possibile anche grazie a film termoadesivi che, fondendosi, saldano i diversi strati applicati tra loro, mantenendo elasticità e traspirabilità. Dr.Pad, collaborando direttamente con un partner italiano con 30 anni di esperienza in termoformatura particolarmente dedicata allo sport, dà la possibilità al cliente di personalizzare pressoché qualsiasi processo produttivo, in quanto possiede la capacità di progettare i macchinari migliori per la creazione del prodotto desiderato.

SCHIUMA

The thermoforming process is allowed by the use of originally poliuretanic composition foams. Foams are essential for a pad performance because they provide cushioning and protection from shocks and vibrations. Foams can be divided into different types: density, weight capacity, cellular concentration (therefore transpiration). Foams employed by Dr.Pad are “memory foams”: they have the ability to maintain body/saddle pressure fairly distributed. DENSITY is the value of the foam weight per square meter. WEIGHT CAPACITY is the real resistance to the applied pressure; this is given by the cellular concentration. The cellular concentration varies according to the dimension and to the number of bubbles composing the foam; consequently, the sweat absorption process depends also on cells number. Dr.Pad studied the possibility of increasing cells concentration (therefore the carrying capacity) even though raising transpiration capability. This is allowed by special poliuretanic foams of Dr.Pad exclusive property. Dr.Pad employes only high quality foams, which do not lose effectiveness even after a long use.

Il processo della termoformatura è permesso dall’utilizzo di schiume che sono originariamente di composizione poliuretanica. Le schiume sono fondamentali per la performance del fondello perchè forniscono l’ammortizzazione e quindi la protezione dagli urti e dalle vibrazioni. Si possono distinguere per densità, portanza, concentrazione cellulare e quindi traspirabilità. Le schiume utilizzate sono “schiume a memoria”: ossia hanno la capacità di mantenere equamente distribuita la pressione esercitata tra il corpo e la sella. La DENSITÀ è il valore del peso della schiuma per m3. La PORTANZA esprime la reale resistenza alla pressione applicata; questa è data dalla concentrazione cellulare. La concentrazione cellulare varia in base alla dimensione e al numero di bolle che compongono la schiuma; di conseguenza la traspirabilità dipende anche dal loro numero. Dr.Pad ha studiato la possibilità di aumentare la concentrazione di cellule (e quindi la portanza) pur elevando al massimo il valore di traspirabilità. Questo è permesso da speciali schiume poliuretaniche di proprietà esclusiva Dr.Pad. Dr.Pad utilizza solo schiume di elevata qualità che non perdono la loro efficacia neanche dopo un lungo utilizzo.

PERFECT COMBINATION Bicycle and cycling are ever evolving: multiple bycicle types for multiple uses. For this reason, every sport moment must be spent with the proper equipment. From the choice of the most appropriate pedalling device to the most appropriate saddle. Saddles as well are part of the couple machine/man and must be selected appropriately for a good performance. Nowadays we can even match the best pad which allows cyclists to run or race at their top possible comfort, while increasing their performance effectiveness. Dr.Pad has always gathered professionals’ opinions, crossing data with its technical labs. The information acquired confirm that the smallest cyclist movement on the saddle entails an improvement of pedal strokes, a better symmetry, reduction in oxygen consumption to the benefit of efficiency and energy saving. Kinetics studies proved that athletic movements are affected by saddle position and pressure points. Pelvis motion, bust and arms rocking, shoulders rotation tend to reduce athletic movements efficiency. Le informazioni raccolte infatti confermano come il minimo spostamento del ciclista sulla sella comporti un miglioramento della spinta sui pedali, una migliore simmetria, la riduzione del consumo di ossigeno a vantaggio del rendimento, aumentando quindi il risparmio di energia espresso in watt. Gli studi cinematici hanno evidenziato come il gesto atletico

viene altamente influenzato dalla posizione in sella e dai vari punti di pressione. Il movimento del bacino, le oscillazioni di busto e braccia, la rotazione delle spalle, rischiano di ridurre l’efficenza del movimento atletico. Si capisce quindi quanto sia importante l’utilizzo di un fondello adeguato a supporto delle zone anatomiche provate da attriti e forti pressioni. Per la scelta ideale del fondello verranno presi in considerazione tutti i parametri. Il sesso dell’atleta, l’età, la tipologia di bici e di utilizzo. I nostri esperti vi sottoporranno i giusti quesiti per l’individuazione del prodotto consono alle vostre esigenze. Abbiamo infatti individuato tre macro aree di utilizzo (si veda la pagina seguente), per agevolare la scelta alle aziende produttrici di abbigliamento tecnico specializzato. Scegliere il fondello adatto è importantissimo, poiché anche i vantaggi potenziali di un’ottima sella potrebbero essere resi vani, se tra il corpo dell’atleta e la sella non vi sia posizionato un supporto di ottima qualità in grado di proteggere ed annullare le pressioni sulle zone sensibili alle offese meccaniche che colpiscono la zona perineale.

This pad is designed for people with a competitive spirit, who race and spend long hours on the saddle, making their bike their life companion. Dedicated to people who don’t accept compromises and want a performing product from all points of view. This type of pad matches up with very slim and hard saddles (with a slender profile and little padding), with robust, light and resistant hulls. Sometimes saddles can be down to the essential, since lightness is king, and they can also be totally stiff, carbon made. Those times an excellent pad is a must.

This pad is designed for people who race on demanding paths within a short time, and those who ride often their bycicle. We find the most people in this range. The saddle we are considering now is lightly padded, but still quite stiff, slightly wider than a racing saddle, allowing, however, intensely measured pedal strokes, and reducing friction issues.

This pad is designed for people using their bycicle occasionally, or for short distances only, but who don’t wish to give up their comfort. Much wider and softer than the previous ones, this saddle is for city bikers or people wanting to relax doing fitness. The rider’s bust is more erect, approximately 90°, discharging the main part of the load on the ischiatic bones, leaning on the saddle.

Per chi ha uno spirito agonistico, gareggia e trascorre molto tempo in sella, facendo della bicicletta la sua compagna di vita. Per chi non accetta compromessi e vuole un prodotto performante sotto tutti i punti di vista. Questo tipo di fondello si abbina a delle selle molto snelle, dal profilo slanciato, con poca imbottitura, tendenzialmente più dure, aventi degli scafi robusti, leggeri e resistenti. Talvolta in nome della leggerezza la sella è ridotta all’essenziale, può essere anche totalmente rigida, realizzata in carbonio. Determinante l’utilizzo di un ottimo fondello per il pantaloncino.

Per chi corre su percorsi impegnativi per tempi medi, per coloro che utilizzano la bici con una buona frequenza. In questa fascia, troviamo il maggior numero di praticanti. La sella in questione è leggermente imbottita, ma mantiene una certa rigidità, leggermente più larga della sella race, permette comunque una pedalata dal ritmo intenso riducendo i problemi dovuti allo sfregamento.

Per chi utilizza le due ruote saltuariamente o per brevi percorsi, ma non vuole rinunciare al comfort di una comoda seduta. Quest’ultima sella, è decisamente più larga e morbida rispetto alle precedenti, questo perché é dedicata a chi pedala in città o vuole rilassarsi facendo del fitness. Il busto del ciclista è più eretto, circa a 90°, scaricando buona parte del peso del corpo sulle ossa ischiatiche che poggiano sulla sella.

It has a double layer structure with 2 foams of 2 different thicknesses. It is also available with an added perforated foam to increase breathability or support. Thanks to the Cutting Technology® this pad has 3 mms thick wings, with 40 Kg/m3 density and a transition step which brings the thicker areas to 80 (or 95) Kg/m3 density, increasing shock absorption, comfort and support. Ha una costruzione a doppio strato che utilizza 2 schiume con 2 differenti spessori e da la possibilità di scelta tra una schiuma forata o meno per incrementare traspirabilità o supporto. DOC 75 3D WOMAN GEL è uno dei fondelli più usati grazie alla sua schiuma ad alta densità e forma perfetta. Le alette laterali seguono il corpo e la parte frontale copre perfettamente l’area genitale. Il design e la densità danno il perfetto supporto per percorrere medie e lunghe distanze. Può essere creato con schiume a diverse densità grazie alla Cutting Technology® che permette di avere una sola schiuma ad alta densità ma molte transizioni che gradualmente cambiano spessore e supporto: dalla parte di maggior carico di seduta (ossa ischiali), alla parte con un carico medio (zona perineale). Il cliente può scegliere di avere un’iniezione di gel all’interno del fondello. È un gel completamente atossico e forato per permettere la traspirazione, non crea quindi barriere al naturale flusso d’aria.
