Young actor of 22 years old Axel Auriant has already created his place in the industry. From a young age, he has already walked the floor of several theatre stages. Today he has given more than 500 performances. SKAM France remains the series that has propelled his fame on an international level. He agreed to answer some of our questions.

character?

Why becoming an actor?

I became an actor in the theater at first because we all change in life.

because I wanted to go on stage and play in front of a large audience. And the fact of giving body and interpreting characters made me want to go further and participate in film shoots. And when I arrived on Skam France and saw the societal dimension of the series, with all these very taboo but very important subjects, it made me want to defend this kind of project even more.

What is the series that made the most impression on you?

I think it’s The Office, because beyond making me laugh, it has helped me a lot in my job. When I arrived on the set of Skam France, my character Lucas was quite reserved, he didn’t talk too much. I asked David the director how the viewers would understand Lucas’ state of mind, and he said «look at The Office, the looks to camera are incredible» and they were, and it helped me a lot to interpret Lucas’

For you, what is a good series/

I don’t think there are necessarily good or bad characters in fiction. I think that each character exists to bring something to the story and to the viewer. But if we really had to qualify what a good character is, I would say that viewers must be able to identify with him. He has to be able to convey messages, to help the viewer fight several situations he may be confronted with. He can also evolve, personality.

Which one rocked your childhood/ adolescence?

Friends of course! My parents were fans and I grew up with the last few seasons. Afterwards, I wanted to watch the whole series, since the first season came out in 1994, and it reminded me so much of my childhood, my parents at night in front of the TV laughing! Really, I have great memories of this series and it’s the one that marked my childhood the most.

Did you choose Skam and the role of Lucas Lallemant? If yes, why ?

Yes, from the first audition I knew I wanted to play Lucas. Even if he is cold and reserved at first, he has a lot to offer the world, a lot of beautiful messages to convey and a lot of incredible things to experience. Obviously, I loved shooting season 3, which is centered on the character of Lucas, since we really understand all his complexity.

What did it bring you personally?

I think the character of Lucas brought me strength and courage, I know it sounds cliché *laughs*, but having to assume your homosexuality to everyone around you, it takes so much courage that the fact of playing him immediately influenced me, it’s so strong that it goes beyond comedy.

What did you want to pass on to people ?

Precisely, it’s in line with what I was saying earlier, with this role I wanted to bring courage and strength to the spectators who are afraid to reveal their homosexuality. The best moment I’ve experienced in recent years is when I received a message from a young man one day, who told me that he had managed to assume his homosexuality with his family thanks to season 3 of Skam France. That’s precisely when you tell yourself that you’re really doing something good, that you’re succeeding in transmitting what you wanted. There’s really a huge sense of pride, to tell yourself that this role and this series are very important to a lot of people, and that they are changing their lives.
