Our editors' heart-stopper

e all watch tens of series, if not more. And one day we discover a show that overwhelms us and shakes up all our expectations. That’s what our columnists Lea and Romane felt with the spanish show, Las Chicas del Cable.
courage and determination with so much strength that everyone feels dragged into their fight.
First of all, we had a firm favorite for the theme and the story of this show. Las Chicas del Cable tells the story of 6 young women going in quest of independence during the twenties in Madrid. This series deals with powerful and very complex subjects at that time. This is a time in history when women are highly dependent on their fathers or husbands. They can’t do 100% of what they want in life. This series allows us to follow their lives and their fight for freedom.
Let’s talk about the crazy ending of this show !! From our earliest childhood, we are used to happy endings, “and they live happily ever after” blablabla... Unconsciously, we expect the same thing to happen with our telephone ladies. What was our surprise facing this disconceting end ?! At the time, our hearts break in the face of this harrowing ending.
As women, this story has inevitably left its mark on us. Seeing women fighting for rights that seem so vital awakens in us the flame of what is now called feminism, a word unknown at the time of the series' story. This show gives us the desire to stand up and fight hand in hand with these women to continue to change the world we live in. They share their

By questioning ourselves, and once our emotions regained, this ending is the best we can ever think of for this series. It summarized perfectly their fight in all the 6 seasons and ended it on a high note. We can’t be more proud of those young women’s fate.
