This unique coin is the product of an unfinished reverse die, possible due to the emergency caused by the Celtic incursion into the region in 279 BC. Tetradrachms of Skostokos, in his name and that of Lysimachos, usually display in the inner left field a herm surmounted by a round cult object, and the name of Skostokos in the exergue - cf. U. Peter, Die Münzen der Thrakischen Dynasten, Berlin 1997, p. 218; SNG Copenhagen 1171; SNG Ashmolean 3779.
