Designed to be driven The Sportage redefines a small SUV, and is borne around fresh thinking that has created a niche vehicle for the driver that really knows what they want from their car – and won’t settle for less.

Form and function are combined in Sportage – a vehicle that shares the luxurious facets of a comfortable sedan with the rugged and practical advantages of a sports utility vehicle.

Under the bonnet are highly efficient and powerful engines backed by advanced suspension and four-wheel drive capability that makes Sportage at home of and on the road.

Its potent big brother is the 2.7-litre DOHC V6 gasoline engine. Everything in this cabin is exactly what you’d want from a car, from the location of the controls to convenient storage space.

Grand designs It’s not how big you make it. It’s how you make it big. Intelligent use of space makes the difference. And Sportage shines with smart design features starting with the versatile and comfortable ‘Dive and Fold’ seats which offer ample support at all the critical anatomical points while the rear seats can be made to disappear into the floor in just a few seconds.

Who said you can’t take it with you? Take a load off with Sportage. Its multiple occupant and cargo storage options make it lifestylefriendly whatever you do for work or leisure.

1. Split folding rear seat and cargo 2. Flat folding rear seats

If you have ever been forced to leave something (or what’s even worse someone) behind because of the lack of space, those days are gone. Sportage appreciates the need for cavernous load space to meet the demands of modern life. Kia has designed the seats to be versatile and foldable. Take the front seat as an example. The seatback can fold down near flat to give you more depth for storing lengthy items. With the rear seats folded down the cargo space is a generous 1,785 mm – and it’s 1,490 mm wide to ensure easy of accommodating the bulkiest of loads. You can create a turn the sizeable 667.4-litres of cargo

space into a massive 1,886.5-litres if required, so you decide if it’s an antique dresser or a mountain bike that takes your fancy this weekend! The 60:40 split folding rear seat cushions and backrests open up a whole new range of possibilities, enabling you to juggle occupant space with cargo in many combinations. This simple folding operation requires little muscle power and it can be carried out without removing the rear head restraints. That considered plus the built-in roof racks, you’ll be planning your next trip with confidence knowing that Sportage lets you take it in style.

Sometimes you have to make your road Sportage is packed with technology to maintain grip when accelerating and cornering on the road, but even when you take to the hills the 4WD system can help you maintain control when the driving conditions demand it most.

If there is one thing you just can’t count on it’s the weather, and no matter if you’re on a wet tarmac road or a dry and stony mountain track, you’ll wish you had the right vehicle for the conditions. Imagine having the best of both worlds in one car? Sportage has the feel and ride of a sedan, where two wheel drive maximises your fuel economy on a journey– but it has a secret up its sleeve. There are those who insist on the extra margin of safety, improved traction in inclement weather or loose terrain, and the go-just-aboutanywhere capability that four wheel drive brings. This is why Sportage offers an advanced full time 4WD system.

28.8°

While you run automatically in 2WD you can manually select 4WD lock for off-road capability. Sportage will adjust traction of the wheels automatically and upon sensing loss of tyre grip, and as much as 50 percent of the engine torque is automatically apportioned to the rear axle. As you exceed 40 kph the Sportage will revert to front wheel drive, and then switch back to 50 : 50 split 4WD as you slow back below 30 kph. Sportage is built to take the rough with the smooth, too. It has 195 mm ground clearance, can run comfortably along a slope with ramp brake-over angle of up to 18.8a° nd provides a high angle of clearance for approach and departure of up to 28.9f°or coping with uneven terrain.

1. Electronic Stability Program (ESP) 2. Disc brake 3. Door impact bar

You can be confident that you and your loved ones will be protected by the very latest technology within Sportage. The Sportage is equipped with an outstanding six-airbag safety system designed to protect occupants both front and rear in the event of a collision. Dual seatbelt pre-tensioners and load limiters combine to hold occupants securely in place in the event of an impact, and an automatic door lock release ensures passengers can exit the vehicle quickly. You are also protected by Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) technology which offers superb braking capability with Anti-lock Brakes System (ABS). Back on the even road Electronic Stability Program (ESP)

prevents skidding in dangerous road conditions, with an intricate network of sensors interacting through the ECU to provide the best traction possible, and Traction Control System (TCS) detects slippage and redistributes power to the wheels when cornering or accelerating from start. Passive safety features at work include the hightensile subframe and crash zone designed to counteract the forces of a front impact, door impact bars for side collisions and a 4-Way member and 4 ring creating a safe zone should the body roll over.

Greet the dawn of a new age Five-speed manual transmission: The smooth-shifting five-speed manual transmission comes with a hydraulically sprung clutch for predictable, smooth takeup. It’s the gearbox of choice for those who are willing to put in a little more effort into their driving in order to enjoy maximum performance.

A six speaker plus amplifier audio system creates a premium sound experience throughout the cabin, yielding sound quality that is resonant and deep, powerfully delivering the full spectrum of sound from highest trebles to the lowest bass.

Auto cruise control: Auto cruise control is a welcome convenience on those long, cross-country drives. A click of the steering-column mounted button activates cruise control to maintain a constant speed on the road, which is disengaged safely when you put pressure on the brake.

Electro-chromic mirror: The rear-view mirror uses electrochromic technology to automatically dim the reflected glare from headlights behind you when you need it, and provide welcome eye-relief during night driving and keeping your vision clear for safety. The mirror includes a handy electronic directional compass.

Four-speed automatic transmission: Comes with a sequential shift mode for sporty, on-the-fly shifting. New adaptive shift control logic actually reprograms the software to deliver either optimal dynamic performance or maximum fuel economy as your driving style dictates.

A battery saver automatically turns off headlamps when the car is parked or accidentally left with headlamps on. An Illuminated Ignition Keyhole makes starting up at night easier.

Cargo screen: Sportage is built to offer practical storage in the rear, and when parked up you want those items to safe from prying eyes or glare from the sun. The convenient cargo screen has a concertina action and can provide separate 60/40 coverage across the luggage space, and each half folds away neatly when not in use.

Luggage under floor box: Hidden discretely above the spare tyre and recessed to utilise unused space is a convenient underfloor storage box which is perfect for tools or other essential travel items.

Cluster: The three-dial gauge cluster is slightly curved to be easy to see while driving, with instruments carefully located and able to be seen at a glance. The sporty look underlines the athletic characteristics of the Sportage, with the central speed gauge and digital display flanked by the separate RPM and fuel gauges.

Full auto temperature control (FATC): You can’t control, the weather, but you can control the interior climate. Fully automatic temperature controlled air conditioning will ensure you’re perfectly comfortable inside the cabin whatever the weather outside. Set the controls to your preferred temperature and the cabin climate will adjust automatically.

Flip-up tailgate glass: Practicality is far from an afterthought and the Sportage tailgate has a highly practical double opening. The top-hinged tailgate comes with flip-up glass that makes for a nice little touch of convenience when you need to quickly place smaller items into the trunk without opening the entire tailgate.
