“Creation is a potent skill, an intriguing ability that emerg es from our uniqueness and perspectives. We attempt to create a parallel between our imagination and the world in which we live by creating our own unique creations... and as architects we strive to create a master balance of meeting the needs of the world without jeopardising the captivating nature, looking forward to explore the future with this notion of sustainability”

The Burgeon house I Portfolio I 2022

A house that functions as a flowering plant, where all the emphasis of the plant is towards the flower

-The Isolation area.It performs as a bud placed hierarchically at the top, overseeing the river flowing by after few days, when the isolation is over, the bud turns into a flower and the space becomes the best space of the house.

Different areas have different kinds of flora, depending on the habitat. Reflecting on this, the whole structure functions as a static plant. the leaves opens and closes according to energy needs so thus the roof. Thus reducing the heat absorbed by the reinforced concrete slabs. the materials used promotes local manufacturing and generates local empowerment. Decreases the importing and travelling costs and enhances climatic performance.

The outdoor and semi outdoor spaces were designed using UTCI. it takes into account the radiant temperature , relative humidity, and wind speed. UTCI uses these variables in a human energy balance model to give a temperature value that is indicative of the heat stress or cold stress felt by a human body in the outdoors.

The Burgeon house I Portfolio I 2022

The Form is sculpted to make sunken courtyards which provide shade from the scorching midday Sun, becoming the best place to be in mornings and evenings.

The roof structure is completely made out of locally available bamboo which acts as green foliage. Each clay tile is placed strategically to allow winter sun and block summer sun inside. thus acting like stomata present on the surface of leaves. All the exterior walls are made out of sandstone available abundantly on the site and finished later.

12

The Burgeon house I Portfolio I 2022

The original builtform absorbs alot of heat in form of radiation on external surfaces like roofs and Placingwalls.aroof

system of bamboo and clay tiles lowers the amount of radiation falling on the surfaces and allows to puncture the form to create open spaces inside for stack effect and natural ventilation to occur. Thus, reduces the radiation recieved by 40% and doubles the amount of natural light reaching inside the spaces.

The Burgeon house I Portfolio I 2022

All the living spaces- living room, dining, drawing room are interchangable so as to bring a fresh change whenever needed and create an inteactive environment. Two foyers are provided for sanitisation & to have separate entry for fruit, vegetables and groceries. Providing different levels to each habitable space enable it to have a view of the river.

DESIGN PROJECT A Complex which propogates the concept of living with nature while maintaining the lively hood of the communities dependant on forest produce. A centre for training programmes and workshops that cater forest officials, entrepreneurs and forest village communities.

Original contours present on the site Contour modification according to the building footprint Placement of building on the site

Research &Training Centre I Portfolio I 2022

The contoured site is located in bhopal, having a view of local hills from the top most point of the site. The trapazoidal shaped site moulded the design decision of having a triangular footprint of the builtform, facing the west which allowed the prominent wind to get inside the building.

22

Niches were created to form green spaces inside the building

23

From the brief, all the spaces were grouped into 3 different builtforms according to functionality These were arranged in such a way to form a common shared space between them which binds all the 3 builtforms together, acts as an OAT/temporary exhibition space when needed

The form originates from the coexistance of the three tribes that live together with the nature to create a balanced ecosystem. The culture, materials and landscape cleave together to produce a structure, reminiscent of the past with technology of futre. Each tribe has an inference in each builing block with green pockets to have maximum possible natural ventilation inside the building.

KUMNO Bus terminal I Portfolio I 2022

The site is located in one of the beautiful yet partially touched realm of india, shillong. along the bangladesh border,it is a bus terminus with an average footfall of 2000 per day, which through its design focusses on developing a cultural narative, while creating economic value, thus enabling to produce an efficient global village.

33

Openings are arranged in such a way that they complement the envelope, allow natural light and air passage with voids at the top of trees whihc serves as a shelter for birds.

The building envelope directs the the rainwater flow to a pit which is collected and stored for reuse. also a good amount of of rainfall at the place gives a brilliant opportunity of success for such innovations. The Building envelope is made out of locally available bamboo, which is a common vernacular construction material used for waterproof roofings and tops.

DESIGN PROJECT

A mixed-use building responding to the site conditions making minimal mpact on the environment. The Brief was to create a structure which would reflect upon the values and feel of Bhopal. To create efficient services keeping in mind the high standards of community living and interaction.

MIXED USE SEMESTERTOWER7

41

Also it was found that rotating the mass against the prominent wind direction creates high pressure on that surface, thus the orientation was such finalised that there is no surface directly on the path of wind flow, reducing the pressure values and structural strain.

Placement of building blocks on the site juxtaposition of green spaces over blocks to create a microcli mate Building core and 8 mega columns supporting the structure Each slabs extrudes differently forming a parabolic profile Building skin, making the building react with the environment Similarly, the skin of the building would use its surface to collect air and keep the indoors ventilated, also helping to shade from the sun reducing the heat gain of the building. Live façade; the movable nature of each unit makes the façade interactive to the weather and plays a major role in the passive cooling of the building. The units act an opaque shade during the day and also can be turned to allow local breeze to cool off the interior without burdening the energy systems.

Some specialized mammals, like the Pangolin have a spectacular ability to harvest environmental moisture using their skin. Such moisture-harvesting systems have interesting biomimetic implications which are used in this project

42

From the learnings of fluid dynamics, it was pretty clear that parabolical and hyperbolical forms have the least drag as compared to any other surface. Using this concept, the floor plate was sculpted into a parabolical form facing the prominent wind direction, thus minimising the wind pressure on the building and reducing the structural stresses.

The exhibition was designed in a space that serves as a stage for an open air apmphitheatre and an adjoining corridor.

Large cloth panels were installed from the roof of the stage creating volumes and spaces for display of themed artwork.

The expressions for the effects like - Placebo effect, Mortzart effect, Bystander effect, Mandela effect, Hundredth monkey effect, Trickle down effect and butterfly effect was done.

Spending time with nature have helped me derive certain concepts and use the process as a learning curve.

Photography I Portfolio I 2021 60

A Hobby turned into identity, photography has shaped me from the very initails years of my life. All genres interest me, but wildlife photography is what captivates me the most.
