Aedas announces completion of Poly Business Centre in Shunde, China Aedas-designed Poly Business Centre serves as the financial centre and main hub for economic activities in Shunde, China with a high-rise tower and five office buildings providing more than 200,000m² of Grade-A office space. The architectural and landscape designs present Shunde’s local culture and traditional Chinese gardens in a modern architectural language. The elevations with vertical fins capture the elegance of the famous Shunde silk, a precious cultural heritage of the city, whilst the office buildings enclose a central courtyard where undulating green patterns resemble the naturalistic and poetic settings of Chinese gardens. Sky gardens and balconies on upper levels to provide leisure spaces to relax and enjoy the garden view. The symmetrical layout is carefully designed to optimise natural ventilation and energy efficiency; and energy consumption is further reduced with the use of external shading devices.

Whilst locally or regionally manufactured construction materials were widely used in the project, sustainable construction materials including low ODP refrigerant, certified timber, rapidly renewable materials and Low VOC products, were also employed.
Lee Gardens Hotel and Lee Gardens LG One hold retrospective exhibition To celebrate the 20th birthday of its successor building, Lee Gardens LG One (“LG One”), Hysan Development, West Villa and Cova Hong Kong have teamed up to mark the event with a retrospective exhibition. Opened in 1972, Lee Gardens Hotel was one of the best-known names in Hong Kong hospitality in the latter part of the 20th century. Held on the ground floor of LG One, the exhibition includes menus and pamphlets of the iconic Yum Sing Bar and the dim sum destination Rainbow Room. Many other items from the Hotel’s operations, including a complete table setting from the Pavilion restaurant, as well as exclusive photos and newspaper cuttings of LGI’s construction and a Cova menu from 1997. To mark the event Hysan Development have also updated the office portion and added several retail shops and restaurants, earning the developer a Platinum level BEAM Plus green building certification. JOYCE WANG UNVEILS ENTERTAINMENT SUITE AT THE LANDMARK MANDARIN ORIENTAL
This year’s INSIDE World Festival of Interiors’ seminar programme will be centred around the theme of ‘Performance’. The event will take place at Arena Berlin, Germany, from 15 – 17 November. Conference sessions will explore how the individual relates to interior space and how material, colour, light and sound contribute to creating high performing interiors for users and sometimes audiences. The international roster of speakers will explore a range of topics, including the role of technology and innovative materials in transforming how we engage and interact with interior spaces. Interior designer Joyce Wang has unveiled the design for The Landmark Mandarin Oriental’s newest and largest suite. Measuring 209m2, guests enter the main living area via the foyer entrance. An Entertainment Wall comprises a series of individual cabinets crafted in liquid metal and intricately engraved with tree branch silhouettes. The ‘Cabinet of Delights’ includes boutique wines on tap, a mixologist dispensary, a crystal vitrine stocked with delicacies created by the hotel’s Michelin-starred chef, and a movie-style popcorn machine. The high-tech audiovisual unit includes a B&O BeoLab sound system and a 160-inch TV screen with a laser projector. Encased with metal detailing, a customdesigned coffee table reveals interlocking compartments crafted from gouged timber, which stores the latest in virtual reality headsets and gaming equipment.Each room features bespoke elements and exquisite detailing, from glass-moulded chandeliers and hand-chiselled cabinet doors adorned with hand-painted art, to limestone wall finishes with bronze inlay.
