Early Entrance Programme (Years 7 & 9)

This process is ideal for pupils for whom Roedean is their first choice. All registered pupils interested in a Year 7 (11+) place and a Year 9 (13+) place will be invited to take part in the Early Entrance Programme – we are offering early testing in addition to our standard entry process. The Early Entrance Programme is designed to fast-track certainty of a place whilst still enabling prospective pupils to take part in our programme of inspiring and challenging activity days. In the Spring of Year 5 (11+ entry) or the Spring of Year 6 (13+ entry), early entry places can be awarded following successful performances in our entrance papers, an interview with the Headmaster, and upon receipt of a supportive reference from the applicants’ current schools. Pupils will also be able to access the Scholarship assessment process in the January preceding September entry.

Stage 1: Experience Days At Roedean, we aim to make the admissions process as enjoyable as possible. Our enduringly popular schedule of activity days and admissions events successfully ensure that all girls feel at ease within the School by the time they enroll and gives 6

each girl an opportunity to shine within her field. Experience days start in the January of Year 5 for both Year 7 and Year 9 early entrance applicants.

Stage 2: Registration The deadline for registration for early entrance testing is the March of Year 5 for Year 7 entry and the November of Year 6 for Year 9 entry. We would be delighted to discuss your daughter’s registration and talk you through the process. Once she is registered, we will keep you updated with any information regarding her entry exams, as well as future events at Roedean which may be of interest.

Stage 2: Assessment Entrance testing in English, Maths and Non-Verbal

Reasoning takes place in the March of Year 5 for Year 7 entry and the March of Year 6 for Year 9 entry. For Year 7 entry, the content of both papers is in line with the National Curriculum expectations in Years 4 & 5. The papers will, however, be challenging, as they are designed to highlight the abilities of the most able pupils.
