ENRICHING THE ACADEMIC ENVIRONMENT AND

DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

and culture

Message from the Associate Dean for Community and Culture Welcome to our new Community and Culture Newsletter! This has long been a vision of mine and now thanks to the recent hire of Chío Tisdell (VTCSOM's Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator), we are getting it done! Every other month, we will deliver this electronic newsletter. Of course, we hope you will find the topics and energy behind them compelling enough to participate. As we begin 2014 and look forward to the graduation of the VTCSOM charter class, we will use this newsletter to highlight the outreach activities, community events, as well as diversity and inclusion programs, planned by our office. We will also focus on specific activities with our partners, including Carilion Clinic, Virginia Tech, and Jefferson College. Finally, this newsletter features a calendar page. If you would like to contribute articles or applicable events, please let Chío and me know! We hope to make this available on our website soon. Many thanks – we look forward to seeing you at one of our events! Happy reading!
