AMY ALLISON Amy Allison is currently in her seventeenth year of teaching and her fifteenth year in Leander ISD. Since the opening of the school in 2004, Ms. Allison has been the head band director at Canyon Ridge Middle School. Under her direction, the CRMS band program placed tenth in the CC Texas State Honor Band Competition in 2006, fourth in Area D in the CCC Texas Honor Band Competition in 2010, and has been named a National Winner in the National Wind Band Honors through the Foundation for Music Education the past three years. Throughout her teaching career, her bands have consistently received sweepstakes ratings at the Texas UIL Concert and Sight-reading Contest. Ms. Allison received her Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, where she performed as principal flutist with the SFA Wind Ensemble under the direction of Fred J. Allen and studied flute with Helen Blackburn. She performed as the piccolo player with the American Wind Symphony Orchestra in Pennsylvania before pursuing her career in teaching and is currently the piccolo player for the Cedar Park Winds. Ms. Allison’s professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Band Masters Association, and Phi Beta Mu. She served as the Region 26 Middle School Coordinator from 2006-2009.

CARTER MATSCHEK Carter Matschek is in his sixth year of teaching at Canyon Ridge Middle School. Mr. Matschek is the conductor of the Symphonic Band and Cadet Band, and teaches beginning saxophone, trumpet, and percussion. His bands have consistently received UIL sweepstakes ratings and unanimous first divisions at festivals around the state. Mr. Matschek received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education in 2009 from Texas Tech University where he studied percussion with Alan Shinn and Dr. Lisa Rogers. While at Texas Tech, Mr. Matschek performed in the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and University Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Sarah McKoin and Gary Lewis and sang in the University Choir under the direction of Dr. John Dickson. He also studied voice with Karl Dent. Mr. Matschek is an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association and The Texas Bandmasters Association. He currently plays percussion with the Cedar Park Winds. Mr. Matschek would like to thank his friends and family for their incredible support. He was recently married and lives in Austin, Texas with his beautiful wife, Sara.

JOSHUA MUÑOZ Joshua Muñoz is in his third year teaching at Canyon Ridge Middle School and his third year teaching overall. In addition to conducting the Concert Band, Mr. Muñoz assists with the Honor and Symphonic Bands and teaches beginning horn, trombone, and tuba/euphonium classes. In 2012, Mr. Muñoz earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Studies from Texas State University, graduating cum laude. His Texas State mentors include Dr. Mary Ellen Cavitt, Dr. Caroline Beatty, Dr. Amy Simmons, and Professor Raúl I. Rodríguez. While at Texas State, Mr. Muñoz performed with the Symphonic Band, Bobcat Marching Band, Tuba/Euphonium Studio Ensemble, and numerous brass quintets. An active participant in Drum Corps International, Mr. Muñoz marched tuba from 2007-2010 with the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps, of Canton, Ohio. While at the Bluecoats, the corps was a consistent DCI finalist and earned the bronze medal, a first for the corps, in 2010. Mr. Muñoz has continued his association with DCI by joining the brass staff of the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, of Denver, Colorado, in 2012. At the Blue Knights, Mr. Muñoz focuses on low brass instruction, specifically with the tuba section. Mr. Muñoz is professionally associated with the Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Bandmasters Association. Mr. Muñoz would like to thank his family, colleagues, close friends, and mentors for their tremendous support with his musical and educational endeavors.
