Further CCTV cameras are set to be installed over key locations in Malahide Demesne over the coming months. This comes following a number of reported breakins to cars parked in the Demesne’s car park. The plans to roll out further CCTV cameras in the car parks were announced at a recent area committee meeting where Fingal County Council confirmed the cameras would be provided, in conjunction with the provision of additional public lighting within the Demesne. The council stated that these works are currently in the process of being procured.

Welcoming the proposed plans, local Cllr Eoghan O’Brien (FF) said the break-ins were happening on a regular basis. “Obviously, this has come up again and again with the number of break-ins that have taken place around the demesne with theft from cars that are parked in the various car parks. I know the car park nearest Avoca was experiencing quite a number,” he said. “The car parks are much used and the wardens and the local gardai can only be in so many places at once.” The council confirmed that the location of the extra CCTV cameras will be chosen based on

advice taken from a crime prevention officer that the council has liaised with on the issue. “We took advice in relation to the most appropriate arrangements and the next phase of CCTV camera provision will focus on the main car park close to the castle. We’ve been advised that it will be the best way to use our resources for this next phase and we will be reviewing it then.” The extra cameras were also welcomed by local Cllr Anthony Lavin (FG), who agreed that it will be of benefit for locals using the car park. “The whole issue of security in the demesne is something that needs attention,” he said.

New addition: Keogh’s keen on their latest flavour of potato crisp crisp lovers are in for a real treat as Keogh’s Farm have unveiled their newest flavour to their range of hand-cooked potato crisps. Tom and Ross Keogh, of Keogh’s Farm, were in the stunning Beara Peninsula in County Cork, home of their partners O’Neill’s Irish Atlantic Sea Salt. This exciting partnership has resulted in this distinct but uniquely delicious, lightly salted flavour. Pictured giving a helping hand is little Cork fishermen, Ollie Neenan (3).
