Train station opens after three-year delay Hansfield facility cost €10 million and was left idle after construction

Dublin 15’s ghost train station has come to life following the official opening of the long-awaited Hansfield facility. The €10 million building,
lying idle since it was constructed back in 2010, saw its first train stop at the station on June 28, almost three years later. It was due to open in September 2010 but could not because it had no access
road. Following numerous meetings between developers, Irish Rail, Fingal County Council and the National Transport Authority, construction on the access road began last year and was
recently completed. The new station will come as a welcome relief to local residents in the area who bought on the understanding that there would be a train station on their doorstep. Full Story on Page 5
