The FIFA World Cup will be held for the twentieth time in 2014. This global football specta cle will connect people, countries and cultures together like no other event. That is why the championship in Brazil has the swinging slogan ‘All in one rhythm’. Enough reason for 1We One World Experience, the new style development organisation, to fortify this one world feeling with the empowerment project 1We Football Playgrounds. Our goal: creat ing a minimum of twenty football playgrounds in the slums of Brazil, Bangladesh and Burundi, as a weapon in the fight against poverty. We desperately need your support as a professional!

Playful education We believe that every child, anywhere in the world, has the right to play. However, if you are born in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro for example, you have little future perspective. Unless you can get the chance to go to school at a young age in order to build a better life. In this sport is, especially in disadvantaged areas, the integration tool of choice. The 1We Football Playgrounds provide young boys and girls not only training in different kinds of sports, they also learn playfully how to read, write and count. Each playground is equipped with a classroom, a dressing area and a tribune, with all sorts of community based activi ties around it. In this way the multifunctional playgrounds also have an empowering func tion for the entire district.


Become ambassador Under the motto ‘SayYES to Play’ we ask you as a professional football player to become an official 1We Ambassador of the 1We Football Playgrounds. By joining the forces of the international top, together we are able to make the difference in the lives of underprivileged children. Starting in the ‘triple B’: Brazil, Bangladesh and Burundi: three countries which represent three continents, symbolising global connection. With the 1We Football Playgrounds as the binding factor and international football icons as the ambassadors.

Special Facebook fan page To promote the campaign around the FIFA World Cup, 1We - One World Experience launches a special fanpage on Facebook.This dynamic page is the playing field of all participating pros. As ambassador they get their own ‘commercial’ with text and photos, with which they can call up their supporters to donate.The fanpage offers football fans the possibility to make a donation to their favourite idol. A fully donated playground will get the name of the ambassador. Since football is easily accessible and is all about the crowd, we ask people a donation of € 1 or $ 1 per person.The goal: to reach as many football fans as possible for the 1We Football Playgrounds.Thus, the challenge for the ambassadors is to activate their supporters to take action massively. It could be an extra motivation if the ambassador would double the amount of collected money, like Richard Branson and Bill Gates do with 'The Giving Pledge'.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION Mission With the 1We Football Playgrounds, 1We - One World Experience gives children and youngsters in underprivileged areas anywhere in the world access to education in a playful manner. For example in Brazil, they can be kept out of the hands of the drug mafia. In Bangladesh and Burundi they will not end up in the harsh street life. In all cases, sport in combination with primary education offers children a better future perspective.

Vision Every child, anywhere in the world, has the right to education.Yet 57 million children worldwide are not going to school, let alone there is an opportunity for sports and games. They are often kept at home to help in the household or in order to generate additional income. In the fight against child labour and poverty in general, education, combined with sports, is an important - if not the most important - tool. It gives children the opportunity to develop, which increases their opportunities in life. Since they are the generation of the future, this eventually affects the entire society.

Strategy The aim of the project 1We Football Playgrounds is to realise sports fields worldwide. Starting in three countries in the three continents South America, Asia and Africa.The playgrounds can be used for all kinds of sports. Around the fields community based activities will be developed, focusing on the empowerment of the whole community. In this way step by step the 1We Empower Centres will arise. In these multifunctional centres everything comes together where 1We - One World Experience stands for: (basic) healthcare, education and tools to empower people.The various components in the centres can function independently. Combined, they form a power source in the shape of a dynamic and sustainable micro-economy.The link between the playgrounds in the three continents contributes to knowledge exchange and respect for each other’s culture.

Realisation playgrounds For the realisation of one 1We Football Playground the following activities are defined: • Researching the project development per location. • Obtaining a piece of land (at least 45 to 75 meters) on a suitable location. • Levelling the field and equipping the ground with a water pipe and a drainage system. • Covering the ground with a suitable top layer. Depending on the local situation the options are sand or grass. In Rio de Janeiro for example, grass is very popular under the locals and will be disappeared from the field in no time. • Placing steel goal posts and a fence to protect the surrounding buildings. • Building a classroom, a dressing area with toilets and showers, and a simple tribune for the audience. • Managing & controlling the project during 2 years. • Marketing the project, including branding & communication.

Target group The 1We Football Playgrounds focuses primarily on disadvantaged children and youngsters in the slums, both boys and girls. They live under distressing conditions, do not go to school and often balance on the edge of crime. Not rarely with drug use and prosti tution as a result of the tough street life. In these cases sports and games, combined with education, are a good way to get them out of the social and economic misery of the slums. By empowering themselves, they are able to take matters into their own hands and get out of poverty. The two coaches of each playground should therefore also be able to give basic education on the basis of the rules of football. This will be done in cooperation with the local school, which also can use the playground.


Target The target of each 1We Football Playground is to give at least 500 children per year the opportunity to learn in a playful manner. With the realisation of at least 20 sports fields, the target for 2014 and 2015 is a minimum of 20,000 participants. Up to and in cluding 2020, at least 70,000 children in total will have a better future perspective thanks to the playgrounds.

Marketing & Communication For the communication about the 1We Football Playgrounds, 1We One World Experience has an extensive mix of marketing and communications tools: • The fanpage on Facebook forms the beating heart of the campaign. This page aims for worldwide reach of as many football fans as possible for the 1We Football Playgrounds. Therefore we invite professional football players to become 1We ambassador. With their own video with text and photos they call up their fans to make a donation. The campaign starts with an online teaser campaign which works towards the unveiling of the project under the motto ‘Say YES to Play’. • The teaser movie with the corresponding pictures can also be used by the pros themselves to promote the campaign, for example on their own Facebook page. • 1We One World Experience will also use this mate rial for other promotional purposes, including radio and tv commercials, press releases, on www.1we.com, posters and flyers. About every new 1We Ambassador, for example, 1We will produce a press release which will be distributed to international news agencies and other media. • On the website of 1We One World Experience visi tors can read much more about the campaign ‘Say YES to Play’, the ambassadors involved and the project ‘1We Football Playgrounds’.

I strongly believe that the world needs to change. That is why I founded 1We One World Experience in 2006, as the new style develop ment organisation. It was time for a new course and a breath of fresh air. With much more transparency about what is actually hap pening in development projects, and thus with the money of donors, we started off. Making the poorest people heroes and giving them concrete tools to develop. Empowerment as the key to a better life. That this actually works is demonstrated by the fact that we provided thousands of people over the past few years a much better existence. In this, we focus on the new generation: the children and youngsters of today who one day will be the leaders. By giv ing them the chance to build an honest future now, they are able to really make the difference later on. I hope that you are willing to take the step with me to offer disadvantaged children a positive future perspective. It would be mind blowing if we all look back in a couple of years on a spe cial experience with a high impact.

Think Global, Act Local

Since the beginning of its existence, 1We One World Experience has helped thousands of people towards a better life at a local level. Men and women, elderly and children. For example with an education project and a football playground for young people in Brazil. But also with a health care project for the poorest elderly in Moldova. And last but not least, with various empowerment projects in Bangladesh, such as the 1We Rickshaws, 1We Cows, 1We Chickens and 1We Slum Shops. The impact is so huge that the projects rightfully can be called effective. Already within a few weeks people are able to flee out of poverty from simple entrepreneurship and with concrete tools. The results: they directly can send their children to school and are able to improve their living condi tions structurally. That is where 1We One World Experience is all about!
