EVENT AT A

GLANCE

There’s one night of the year where art and design intersect and that’s the River North Design District’s Fall Gallery Walk. For this special event, the River North Design District creates pairings with Chicago’s top interior designers, international artists, galleries, and design showrooms to create amazing backdrops for the biggest party of the year. At each showroom, a designer creates a gorgeous vignette using work by internationally acclaimed artists showcasing art in a living setting. This is the kind of evening that never gets boring, packed full of destinations where shoes serve two purposes: dancing and walking. The walking part includes 20 stops in Chicago’s River North neighborhood. Each showroom is open late and showcases its designer’s vignette, along with entertainment, music, food and libations. The streets are flooded with art and design enthusiasts, and galleries and showrooms are packed to the brim. Inspiration lies at every turn. Children are welcome during Saturday’s open house. Intersect Chicago 2021 is an art and design fair, formerly known as SOFA – Sculpture Objects Functional Art. In 2021, the fair presents an exploration of materiality and meaning in design, objects, furniture, and art with a focus on local, regional, and global creation. Intersect Chicago’s 2021 edition takes place at Navy Pier from November 4-7.

3 | Zolla Lieberman featuring Deborah Butterfield 325 W. Huron St

Deborah Butterfield is a renowned sculptor known for sculpting horses from materials such as wood and metal. She has studied with Manuel Neri, Robert Arneson, William Wiley, and Roy De Forest. Butterfield has received numerous awards, including a National Endowment for the Arts Individual Artist Fellowship, an American Academy of Achievement Award, and a Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship. Her work is collected by public institutions including Denver Art Museum; H.M. de Young Museum, San Francisco; Hirshhorn Sculpture Garden, Smithsonian Institution; Meijer Sculpture Gardens, Grand Rapids, Michigan; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; Seattle Art Museum; Walker Sculpture Garden, Minneapolis; and Yale University. Butterfield lives and works in studios in Hawaii and Montana.

Digs With Dignity Their mission is to elevate the lives of those transitioning from homelessness by filling their houses with everything that makes a comfortable, dignified home. As a 501(c)(3), they partner with Chicago-based social service agencies to identify those in need and utilize a warehouse of donated and refurbished furniture and home goods to outfit homes. They work with a variety of individuals and families that may include domestic abuse victims, veterans, those who have experienced a sudden job loss or those dealing with extreme health situations.

A portion of RNDD’s ticket sales will be donated to Digs With Dignity.
