Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013 • 7 p.m. • Charles L. Sewall Center (3,056) • Moon Township, Pa. Radio: 970 ESPN AM with Chris Shovlin (play-by-play) & Jim Elias (color) Follow RMU Men’s Basketball on Twitter and Instagram: RMUMBasketball Top Story - The Robert Morris University men’s basketball team searches for its second straight win Wednesday when it welcomes Campbell to the Charles L. Sewall Center for a 7:00 p.m. tilt. The Colonials are coming a 67-63 victory @ Duquesne (12/14/13), which snapped a five-game losing streak, as senior guard Karvel Anderson scored a game-high 17 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the field, including 5-for-10 from beyond the arc. Anderson was one of four players to reach double figures for RMU against the Dukes, as freshman forward Jeremiah Worthem added 15 points and senior guard Anthony Myers-Pate and junior guard Charles Oliver each supplied 10 points. Robert Morris returns to the road for a five-game road trip after hosting the Camels Wednesday, beginning in Rochester, Mich., against Oakland Sunday, Dec. 22, in a 1:00 p.m. tip. The Colonials will also visit Oklahoma State (12/30/13) and Alabama (1/4/14) to close out non-conference play and will open Northeast Conference action with road tilts @ Sacred Heart (1/9/14) and Bryant (1/11/14) as part of its longest road trip of the 2013-14 campaign. Quick Stat of the Night - Lucky Jones was a key force on the glass in helping Robert Morris snap a five-game losing streak with a 67-63 victory @ Duquesne (12/14/13), as the junior forward pulled down a game-high 11 boards. Thanks to the outburst against the Dukes, Jones pushed his career total in rebounds to 476, leaving him just 24 caroms shy of becoming the 17th member of the RMU 500-rebound club. Jones is also the active leading scorer for the Colonials with a career total of 843 points entering Wednesday’s game against Campbell and, barring injury, should become the 13th player in school history to eclipse career totals of both 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in 2013-14. Should Jones eclipse 1,000 career points this year, he would be the ninth player in program history to turn the trick in his junior season and the first since former guard Velton Jones (2008-13) accomplished the feat during the 2011-12 campaign. The contest featured 14 ties and 13 lead changes, with forward Lucky Jones leading Robert Moris with 15 points, five rebounds and four assists. Anderson added 13 points, while forward Mike McFadden chipped in 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Head Coach Andrew Toole Fourth Season - Penn ’03 When it came time for Robert Morris University Director of Athletics Craig Coleman, M.D., to name a new head coach for the men’s basketball program, he didn’t have to look far. Andrew Toole was introduced as the eighth head coach in the 38-year Division I history at a press conference at the Charles L. Sewall Center May 11, 2010, and the 2013-14 campaign marks his fourth season as head coach of the Colonials. Toole signed a three-year contract extension at Robert Morris May 3, 2013, meaning he will lead the Colonials through the 2017-18 campaign. In four seasons under Toole’s tutelage, the Colonials have posted an overall record of 72-43 (.626), including a mark of 39-15 (.722) against Northeast Conference opponents. In 2012-13, Toole led RMU to an overall record of 24-11 (.686). The Colonials claimed their 10th NEC regular-season championship with a ledger of 14-4 (.778), helping Robert Morris earn its fifth postseason appearance in the last six years. RMU earned a spot in the 2013 National Invitation Tournament (NIT), advancing to the second round thanks to a 59-57 victory over Kentucky (3/19/13) in front of 3,444 fans at the Charles L. Sewall Center, the largest crowd in school history. In the second round, the Colonials dropped a 77-68 decision at Providence (3/25/13). In his first season at the helm in 2010-11, Toole guided RMU to an overall record of 18-14 (.563), including a mark of 12-6 (.667) in the NEC. The Colonials advanced to the championship game of the NEC Tournament, falling three minutes shy of earning its third straight title before falling in overtime at LIU Brooklyn, 85-82. The following season in 2011-12, Robert Morris posted an overall record of 26-11 (.703), including a mark of 13-5 (.722) in the NEC. RMU tied a school record for victories, advanced to its fourth straight NEC Tournament championship game and earned its inaugural berth in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT). In the 2012 CIT, the Colonials advanced to the quarterfinals thanks to road wins at Indiana State and Toledo, marking the program’s first victories in a national postseason tournament since 1983. Overall, Toole has been at Robert Morris six seasons. He spent the 2007-08 campaign as an assistant under former head coach Mike Rice (2007-10) before being elevated to Associate Head Coach for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons. He is at the helm of an RMU program that has experienced unprecedented success over the last six years. Since the beginning of the 2007-08 season, Robert Morris owns an overall record of 141-67 (.678), with the 141 victories both a school and NEC record for a six-year span. RMU’s 141 wins over the last six years is tied with Davidson for eighth among mid-major programs over that span, and the Colonials also own NEC records for victories over the span of three, four and five years. While RMU's overall success is apparent, the program's accomplishments in the NEC are also clear. Over the last six years, the Colonials have posted a mark of 85-23 (.787) against league opposition, having finished no lower than third over that span. Robert Morris won outright NEC regular-season titles in 2008, 2009 and 2013 and shared the title in 2010 with Quinnipiac. RMU followed up its success in the regular season by becoming the first team in NEC history in 16 years to win back-to-back NEC Tournament championships by earning a 52-50 win over Quinnipiac in the 2010 NEC Tournament championship game in Hamden, Conn. In 2008, the Colonials made their first appearance in the NIT, dropping an 87-81 decision to No. 1 overall seed Syracuse at the Carrier Dome. In both 2009 and 2010, RMU earned automatic berths to the NCAA Tournament thanks to winning its sixth and seventh NEC Tournament championships, respectively. In the 2009 NCAA Tournament, the Colonials fell to eventual national runner-up Michigan State, 77-62, in the first round at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minn. In the 2010 NCAA Tournament, Robert Morris nearly upset No. 2 seed Villanova in the first round at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, R.I., before falling, 73-70, in overtime. Prior to coming to Robert Morris in 2007, Toole spent the 2006-07 season as an assistant at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa. Between 2004 and 2006, Toole spent two years with The Hoop Group in Neptune, N.J., serving as the director of the Eastern Invitational Basketball Clinic and Rebounds, a 28,000-square foot facility where high school players focus on development. Toole was a four-year starter at the Division I level, playing for Elon University (1998-2000) before transferring to the University of Pennsylvania (2000-03). Over his four-year career at Elon and Penn, Toole averaged 12.3 points per contest, finishing with 1,341 points in 109 games. He also posted averages of 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.2 steals per contest. Toole married the former Brooke Kelly June 3, 2011, and the couple resides in the Pittsburgh, Pa., suburb of Mt. Lebanon with their son, Ryan.

THE GREATEST COMEBACK ... Robert Morris put together its greatest comeback in school history in garnering a 74-72 win over Youngstown State (11/25/08) at the Charles L. Sewall Center. The Penguins held a 57-34 lead with 16:07 to play, but the Colonials closed the game on a 40-15 run to garner the victory. It marks the largest deficit on record that RMU has ever come back from in its 37-year Division I history. Former guard Bateko Francisco (2007-09) hit a jumper with 2.7 seconds to play that helped lift the Colonials to the win over the Penguins. WE’RE STREAKING Thanks to an 83-79 overtime victory over Wagner (2/9/13), RMU stretched its run of consecutive winning seasons to eight, the longest streak in school history. Since the beginning of the 2005-06 campaign, the Colonials own an overall record of 172-92 (.651), including a mark of 104-40 (.722) in the Northeast Conference. DID YOU KNOW? 2013-14 RMU Basketball

Charles In Charge - Junior guard Charles Oliver provided the Colonials with a huge spark off the bench in the second half of a 67-63 victory @ Duquesne (12/14/13) that helped Robert Morris snap a five-game losing streak. In a three-minute stretch, Oliver scored 10 straight points, which helped RMU turn a 44-43 advantage into a 54-48 cushion with 8:40 to play. It marked the third double-figure scoring game of the season for Oliver, who provides the Colonials with another deep threat. In the three games that Oliver has eclipsed the 10-point plateau, he has averaged 11.0 points while shooting 68.8 percent (11-for-16) from the field, including 58.3 percent (7-for-12) from deep. What shouldn’t come as a surprise is that in those three contests, RMU is 3-0. In Oliver’s other eight games? He is averaging just 3.6 points per contest while shooting 25.6 percent (10-for-39) from the floor, including 20.8 percent (5-for-24) from beyond the arc. Shooter - Senior guard Karvel Anderson enters Wednesday’s game against Campbell having reached double figures in scoring in each of RMU’s first 11 games of the 2013-14 season as well as 12 straight dating back to last season. It marks the longest streak by a member of the Colonials since former guard Velton Jones (2008-13) scored in double figures in 19 consecutive games from Feb. 19, 2011 to Dec. 22, 2011. During his streak, Anderson is averaging 18.4 points per contest while shooting 50.3 percent (78-for-155) from the field, including 48.4 percent (44-for-91) from deep. Anderson, who scored at least 20 points in a game a total of five times last year, has already eclipsed the 20-point plateau five times this season. Thanks to his 23-point performance against Toledo (12/7/13), Anderson became the 20th player in school history with at least 10 games of 20 or more points. A Streak Snapped - All good things must come to an end, and for Robert Morris, it had one of its most impressive streaks snapped in an 84-76 setback @ Youngstown State (12/4/13). The Colonials shot an even 50 percent (27-for-54) from the field against the Penguins, snapping a streak of 35 consecutive victories dating back to the 2008-09 campaign when RMU converted at least 50 percent of its shots from the floor. RMU has now dropped two straight when turning the trick, as the Colonials shot a season-high 63.3 percent (31-for-49) from the field in an 80-77 setback to Toledo (12/7/13). Robert Morris is now 20-2 (.909) in four seasons under head coach Andrew Toole when shooting at least 50 percent from the floor. Double Nickel On A Dime - Senior guard Anthony Myers-Pate dished out a season-high nine assists in RMU’s 88-81 victory over UT Arlington (11/21/13) to go along with 10 points, and thanks to his performance cracked the top 10 all-time in program history for career dimes. Myers-Pate enters Wednesday’s game against Campbell with 364 career assists, a total that eclipsed former Colonial Jeremy Chappell (2005-09) for 10th all-time at Robert Morris. Through 11 games of the 2013-14 season, Myers owns 49 assists against 18 turnovers to rank second in the Northeast Conference in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.72) while ranking sixth in the circuit in assists per game (4.45). In 112 career contests, Myers-Pate has proven to be a steady ball handler, posting a career 1.92 assist-to-turnover ratio. International Waters - Robert Morris is coming off a record-breaking season in shooting from beyond the arc in 2012-13, and the Colonials have picked up right where they left off from a season ago. Through the first 11 games of the 2013-14 season, RMU has converted 90 of its 225 attempts (40.0 percent) from beyond the arc. Robert Morris enters Wednesday’s tilt against Campbell leading the Northeast Conference in both three-point field goal percentage and three-point field goals made per game (8.18). Robert Morris has drilled at least 10 three-pointers in five of its first 11 games of the 2013-14 campaign, posting a 4-1 (.800) record in those contests. RMU is 27-4 (.871) in four seasons under head coach Andrew Toole when converting at least 10 three-pointers in a game. Comeback Kids - Robert Morris earned a 90-81 victory @ Lafayette (11/12/13) in its first road game of the 2013-14 campaign by climbing out of an 11-point deficit in the second half. The Colonials fell behind the Leopards, 59-48, with 14:01 remaining before coming back to tie the score, 70-70, and closing the game 15-6 run to earn the win. It marks the 10th time RMU has climbed out of a double-digit deficit to earn a victory in four seasons under head coach Andrew Toole. Defense Wins Championships - At the heart of the resurgence of the RMU basketball program over the last seven seasons has been defense. Since the beginning of the 2007-08 campaign, Robert Morris owns a record of 110-22 (.833) when holding its opponent to less than 70 points. In four seasons under head coach Andrew Toole, the Colonials are 59-15 (.797) when turning the trick.

Close Out At the heart of the resurgence for Robert Morris since the beginning of the 200708 campaign has been one aspect: Defense. Over the last six years, the Colonials have held 10 opponents to 45 points or less. The latest team the Colonials held under the mark was Bryant (2/16/12), as RMU earned a 69-40 win over the Bulldogs at the Charles L. Sewall Center. The defensive pressure that Robert Morris has employed over the last six seasons has allowed the program to post each of its top four totals for largest margin of victory against a Northeast Conference opponent in school history. The Colonials earned a 91-38 victory over Bryant (2/3/11) at the Charles L. Sewall Center to not only establish a new school record in an NEC game but also tie the league mark. The record was originally set when Wagner defeated Sacred Heart, 116-63, on February 22, 2000. In fact, only four games in league annals have been decided by 50 or more points, and RMU owns two of them. Robert Morris posted a 95-45 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson (2/7/08) at the Sewall Center, while LIU Brooklyn defeated Wagner, 127-77, Feb. 11, 1998. Scouting the Camels - Campbell wraps up a two-game road swing with its tilt against Robert Morris Wednesday and enters the contest with an overall record of 4-6 (.400) after dropping an 80-68 decision @ Loyola (Ill.) (12/13/14) in its last contest. The Camels converted a season-high 12 three-pointers against the Ramblers as sophomore guard Luke Moyer came off the bench to supply a career-high 12 points to tie for game-high honors. Also finishing with 12 points was redshirt junior forward Reco McCarter. Leading Campbell in both scoring and rebounding so far in 2013-14 is redshirt junior center Darius Leonard, who supplies an averages of 12.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game while shooting 53.6 percent (52-for-97) from the field. Also averaging in double figures for the Camels is redshirt junior guard Andrew Ryan, who scores at an 11.7 points per game clip. Campbell Head Coach - Kevin McGeehan (Gettysburg ’95), who helped lead the University of Richmond to five postseason berths in the last six years as associate head coach, was named the head men’s basketball coach at Campbell April 11, 2013. Overall, McGeehan spent eight seasons on the coaching staff at Richmond, where the Spiders advanced to the NCAA Tournament twice as well as the College Basketball Invitational three times. RMU’s Last Game - Robert Morris snapped a five-game losing streak, Dec. 14, with a 67-63 victory over Duquesne at the A.J. Palumbo Center. Derrick Colter opened scoring in the contest with a three-pointer to give Duquesne an early edge, but RMU got off to a hot start offensively, hitting its first five shots from the field in building a 14-7 advantage. Freshman forward Jeremiah Worthem was the stalwart, scoring seven early points. Senior guard Karvel Anderson gave the Colonials their first double-digit lead, 17-7, with a three-pointer at the 14:27 mark of the first half, and the lead eventually swelled to 24-10 after senior guard Anthony Myers-Pate scored on a layup with 9:18 left before intermission. By switching to a zone defense, the Dukes cooled the RMU offense and and reeled off a 16-6 run to close to within 30-26 with just 1:36 to play before halftime. Anderson helped stem the tide by hitting the front end of a pair of attempts at the free-throw line, but a three-pointer from Tra'Vaughn White at the buzzer helped the Duquesne close to within 31-29 at the break. In the second half, a jumper from Worthem and a three-pointer by Myers-Pate helped keep the Colonials in front, 36-31, in the opening minutes, but Duquesne was able to eclipse RMU's 14-point advantage in the first half when Jerry Jones connected from deep to knot the score, 39-39, with 13:38 remaining. Despite the three-pointer from Jones, RMU answered right back, as junior forward Lucky Jones connected for his own three-pointer to give the Colonials the lead right back, 42-39. Freshman guard Kavon Stewart would convert in the lane on RMU's next possession to give Robert Morris a 44-39 lead before junior guard Charles Oliver provided a huge spark off the bench. Oliver scored 10 straight points over a three-minute stretch, including a pair of three-pointers, and senior forward Mike McFadden added a layup as part of a 12-5 surge that opened up a 5648 cushion for RMU. Anderson then came through for the Colonials, as he buried a pair of three-pointers, the second of which pushed the lead back to double digits, 64-54, with 3:24 to go. Duquesne had one last charge, closing to 64-61 after a layup from Dominique McKoy with 54 seconds left, but Myers-Pate came through with a layup to help seal the win. 2013-14 RMU Basketball

A Special Night - Senior guard Karvel Anderson put forth arguably the most impressive shooting display in school history last season in an 84-76 win over Ohio (12/1/12) at the Charles L. Sewall Center, hitting all 10 of his shots from the floor in the victory, including 8-for-8 from beyond the arc. Anderson is the first student-athlete in school history to post a perfect shooting night from the field with as many as 10 field goals. Anderson is also just the second student-athlete in school history to convert eight field goals from beyond the arc without a miss. Former Colonial Scott Shepherd (1988-91) also finished 8-for-8 from deep in a 110-80 win over LIU Brooklyn Feb. 8, 1990, at the Sewall Center. A Special Night Part Deux - Senior guard Karvel Anderson added to his legacy as one of the best three-point shooters in school history in an 88-81 win over UT Arlington (11/21/13), tying a Charles L. Sewall Center record for three-pointers by a studentathlete from RMU with eight. Anderson finished 8-for-10 from beyond the arc against the Mavericks en route to a team-high 24 points. It marks the second time Anderson has connected for eight three-pointers in a game at “The Chuck,” as he also accomplished the feat in an 84-76 win over Ohio (12/1/12). Anderson, one of six Colonials in school history to bury eight three-point field goals in a game at the Sewall Center, is the first to turn the trick twice. Anderson heads into RMU’s game Wednesday leading the Colonials in scoring (18.5 ppg) while owning a team-high 40 three-pointers, an average of 3.64 per contest that is tops in the Northeast Conference while ranking second in the circuit in three-point field goal percentage (.476). In The Clutch - You certainly could say that Robert Morris has a flair for the dramatic. In a 60-57 victory @ LIU Brooklyn (2/2/13), former guard Velton Jones added to his legacy of game-winning shots, as his floating jumper in the lane with 9.8 seconds remaining helped propel the Colonials to the win over the Blackbirds. Robert Morris celebrated its 25th season of playing its home games at the Charles L. Sewall Center in 2009-10. The facility was dedicated in 1985 and named for the man who served Robert Morris as president from 1967 until 1989. The Sewall Center has been the site where the Northeast Conference Tournament champion has been crowned in men’s basketball a total of five times in the last 28 years, with the Colonials winning four of those titles. RMU won the NEC Tournament on its home court in 1989, 1990, 1992 and 2009, while in 1986 No. 2 seed Marist won the championship with a 57-56 win over No. 1 seed Fairleigh Dickinson. The 2009 NEC Tournament men's basketball championship game held at the Sewall Center featured the first sell-out crowd in school history, with 3,227 fans packed into the arena to watch Robert Morris post a 48-46 win over Mount St. Mary’s that was televised nationally on ESPN2. Former forward Dallas Green (2006-10) hit the game-winning shot with 2.2 seconds to play to help lift the Colonials to their sixth NEC Tournament title. In addition, the Robert Morris women’s basketball team claimed back-to-back NEC Tournament championships at the Sewall Center in 2007 and 2008. The Need for Three Over the course of the last decade, converting the three-point shot and Robert Morris has become synonymous. Despite having its string of consecutive seasons with at least 200 three-pointers snapped at six by finishing with 197 in 2009-10, the Colonials are at the top of the Northeast Conference over the last 10 years in three-point field goals made per game. Since the start of the 2004-05 campaign, the Colonials have averaged 7.25 three-pointers per contest, ahead of LIU Brooklyn (7.18). Senior guard Karvel Anderson leads the Colonials so far in 2013-14 with 35 three-pointers, an average of 3.50 per game that leads the NEC. Robert Morris Historical Tidbits In The Beginning - Robert Morris was the first institution to jump directly from the junior college ranks to NCAA Division I. RMU played basketball at the junior college level for 13 seasons from 1963 to 1976, posting a record of 287-58 (.832) under head coach Gus Krop. Krop led the Colonials to a record of 30-1 (.968) in 1968-69 in its sixth season as a junior college program, with its only loss a 79-76 setback to Paducah (Ky.) in the national title game. In his time leading Robert Morris, Krop coached nine All-Americans and also recruited Earl Cureton, a native of Detroit, Mich., who played one season with the Colonials when it was a junior college program (1975-76) as well as the first season of Division I basketball in 1976-77. Half A Century - The 2013-14 campaign marks the 51st season of intercollegiate basketball at Robert Morris. The Colonials compiled an overall record of 287-58 (.832) in 13 years as a junior college program from 1963 to 1976 and since moving to Division I with the 1976-77 campaign has posted an overall record of 532-559 (.488). Combined, Robert Morris posted a record of 816-610 (.572) over its first 50 years as an intercollegiate program from 1963 to 2013. In honor of 50 years of intercollegiate basketball, Robert Morris will enshrine the 1981-82 Colonials, the first squad to qualify for the NCAA Tournament, into the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame in January of 2014. The First Superstar - Don Mackey (1963-65) was the only player in junior college history to score over 1,000 points in his two seasons with the program. A native of Homestead, Pa., Mackey finished his two years with the Colonials by scoring 1,034 points, and his 43 points in a 125-111 win over Walsh Jan. 30, 1965, still stands as the most points scored in a game by a player in a Robert Morris uniform. He went on to finish his collegiate career at Gannon University and was inducted into the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame Oct. 9, 2010. Mackey is one of nine members of the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame from the junior college ranks, which also includes former All-Americans Perry Johnson (1969), Cleveland Edwards (1969) and Ron Hightower (1971 and 1972). The Twirl - Arguably the best basketball player in school history, in his one season at the Division I level in a Robert Morris uniform Earl “The Twirl” Cureton (1975-77) averaged 17.2 points and 10.5 rebounds per game in 197677. Cureton still owns Robert Morris single-season records for rebounds (274) and rebounding average and is the only player in the program’s Division I history to average a double-double. He transferred to the University of Detroit to continue his Division I career and was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in the third round of the 1979 NBA Draft. He went on to play 12 seasons in the NBA, earning a pair of championship rings, one with the 76ers in 1983 and the other with the Houston Rockets in 1994.

Charter Member - Robert Morris played independently as a Division I program for five seasons before becoming a charter member of the ECAC Metro Conference in 1981, which changed its name to the Northeast Conference in 1988. The Colonials have won seven NEC Tournament titles, the most in league history, and have also appeared in the NCAA Tournament seven times. Robert Morris has won back-to-back NEC Tournament titles on three occasions, including the first two championships in 1981 and 1982. RMU also claimed back-to-back NEC Tournament titles in 1989 and 1990 and again in 2009 and 2010. Dynamic Duo - Led by guards Chipper Harris (1980-84) and Forest “Bay” Grant (1980-84), Robert Morris claimed the first two ECAC Metro Conference Tournament championships in 1981 and 1982. In four seasons, Harris and Grant combined for career totals of 3,434 points, 869 rebounds, 991 assists and 782 steals. Harris served as RMU’s all-time leading scorer with 1,940 points from the conclusion of his career until 1994 and still owns the Robert Morris career record for steals (450), while Grant is the program’s all-time leader in assists with 555. The pair helped the ECAC Metro Conference garner its first victory in the NCAA Tournament, as the Colonials upended Georgia Southern, 64-54, in a play-in game at the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio, in the 1983 NCAA Tournament. Harris was enshrined in the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995, followed by Grant in 1996. Walk On The Ocean - Former guard Myron Walker (1990-94) continued RMU’s lineage of stellar guards when he arrived on the scene in the fall of 1990 and was a key part of a 1991-92 squad that claimed the program’s fifth NEC Tournament championship and berth in the NCAA Tournament. In his second year with the program, Walker scored an RMU single-season school record 614 points en route to being named the 1992 NEC Player of the Year, the only sophomore in league history to earn the honor. Walker, a native of Aliquippa, Pa., went on to become the program’s all-time leading scorer with 1,965 points and also owns the single-season record for scoring average (20.1 ppg as a senior in 1993-94) and career marks for 20-point scoring games (47) and scoring average (18.7 ppg). Keep On Rockin ... Robert Morris played at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky., earlier this season, taking on a No. 1 ranked team for just the second time in program history in the Kentucky Wildcats. Rupp Arena is one of seven arenas that the Colonials have played in that has also featured a concert by Pearl Jam since the band’s formation in 1990. Also included in the list is the Palace at Auburn Hills (Detroit, Mich.), the Prudential Center (Newark, N.J.), Savage Arena (Toledo, Ohio), the Wolstein Center (Cleveland, Ohio), the Bryce Jordan Center (State College, Pa.) and the A.J. Palumbo Center (Pittsburgh, Pa.), home of the Duquesne Dukes.

Who Was Robert Morris? Robert Morris, Jr. (January 20, 1734 – May 8, 1806) was a Liverpool-born American merchant and signer of the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation and the United States Constitution. He was elected to the Pennsylvania Assembly, became the Chairman of the Pennsylvania Committee of Safety and was chosen as a delegate to the Second Continental Congress, where he served as chairman of the “Secret Committee of Trade” and as a member of the Committee of Correspondence. From 1781 to 1784, he served as the powerful Superintendent of Finance, managing the economy of the fledgling United States. As the central civilian in the government, Morris was, next to General George Washington, “the most powerful man in America.” His successful administration led to the sobriquet, “Financier of the Revolution.” He was one of Pennsylvania's original pair of U.S. senators, serving from 1789 to 1795. A look at his legacy: - A portrait of Morris appeared on U.S. $1000 notes from 1862 to 1863 - Morris and Roger Sherman were the only two people to sign all three significant founding documents of the United States, the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the U.S. Constitution. - The dollar sign ("$") was in common use among private merchants during the middle of the 18th century. It referred to the two columns draped with scrolls on the Spanish milled dollar, which predated the U.S. Dollar. Morris was the first to use that symbol in official documents.
